Following the massive success of bothMarvel’s Spider-Man, andMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Insomniac Games has set its sights on another superhero: Wolverine. While there is not a lot of information aboutMarvel’s Wolverine, the character’s extensive run in the comics gives Insomniac a lot of material to work with. One aspect of Logan’s popularity in the comics has always been the powerful foes he has come up against, so one of the most anticipated pieces of information aboutMarvel’s Wolverineis who the players will be fighting against.
Wolverine is a unique hero because he has been a part of many teams within the Marvel Comics universe, including the X-Men, the Avengers, and even The Fantastic Four. This gives Wolverine an extensive rogues' gallery that Insomniac Games could dive into for villains for the upcoming game. From powerhouses like Ultron and Magneto to more personal enemies such as Sabertooth, William Stryker, and Deadpool, there is a long list of villains and storylines thatInsomniac could explore inMarvel’s Wolverine.

Wolverine’s Villains
With not much information given away during the short reveal ofMarvel’s Wolverine, fans are not aware of what version of Logan they will be able to control. While seeing Logan as part of theAvengers or the X-Menwould be exciting for the possible future games that could be made, there is an even bigger case to give Wolverine a standalone story. Like bothSpider-Mangames, exploring Wolverine outside his affiliations would allow the game to dive deeper into Wolverine’s character and explore Logan’s origins.
Outside of his many teams, Wolverine’s main villains have always been Sabertooth and William Stryker, both of whom have played vital roles in the development of Logan’s character. Another fan-favorite who could make an appearance asa villain inMarvel’s Wolverinewould be Deadpool, who could also help connect the events of the game withMarvel’s Spider-Man,thanks to Deadpool’s rivalry with the web slinger. Whatever the case, dedicating the game to exploring Wolverine’s character would be a great starting point for a potential series.

Wolverine as an Avenger
Wolverine played a vital role in assisting the Avengers during many of their most important fights, including against the likes of Kang, Galactus, and Wendigo. However, his most notable appearance alongside the Avengers was during the first Civil War event, which fans would absolutely love to see played out in the game. If the game decides to follow this narrative, fans could see Wolverine come up against the greatest threats in the Marvel universe and see him fight alongside Captain America and the other New Avengers.
Another avenue thatMarvel’s Wolverinecould follow is the Uncanny Avengers, a team created by Captain America to improve relations between the X-Men and the Avengers. This would bring together both of Logan’s teams and could possibly show the turbulence that exists within Marvel’s universe. Further, it could bring in many villains including Thanos, Dr. Doom, and Ultron along withthe Brotherhood of Mutants led by Magneto.

Wolverine and The New Fantastic Four
WithMarvel’s Spider-Man 2set to shine the limelight on both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, there is a huge possibility for future games to include the web slingers along with Wolverine. While both Spider-Man and Wolverine have been a part of the Avengers, one of their most impressive team-ups was as part of the New Fantastic Four. This team alsoincluded the likes of Ghost Rider, and Hulk, who could also be featured in their own games if Insomniac Games goes down this route.
While the storyline of The New Fantastic Four was short, expanding on the story would be a great way for Insomniac Games to gain a larger catalog of Marvel games. This would also bring the Skrull and Kree to the forefront, or reintroduce the Sinister Six, who havealready appeared inMarvel’s Spider-Man. The storyline could also bring in villains such as Mole Man, Puppet Master, and Dr. Doom, all of whom have fought against the original Fantastic Four in the past.
Thanks to all of his team-ups, Wolverine has one of the most extensive lists of villains, which makes Insomniac Games’ decision a lot harder, especially if it’s attempting to combinethe upcoming Wolverine game with future Spider-Man games.Marvel’s Wolverinewill need to ensure that the villains included in the game bring the best out of Logan and allow the fans to truly experience his character. Logan’s villains will play a huge role inMarvel’s Wolverine, not only giving fans major fights but also fleshing out the characters and events of the game.
