Capcom announced that it will be hosting a specialResident Evilshowcase on January 21, primarily to discuss the upcomingResident Evil 8game. But whileResident Evil 8will likely be the main focus of the presentation, Capcom is expected to talk about theResident Evilfranchise in a broader sense as well. It remains to be seen exactly what will be announced, but fans may get an idea of what to expect thanks to a recent tweet by a proven insider.

Industry insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, said some time ago that they were done leaking information online. Considering this, fans shouldn’t take their recent tweets about theResident Evilshowcaseas “leaks.” Instead these are just predictions by someone who is known to be far more knowledgeable about the subject than the average fan. Even so, the predictions sound plausible enough, and it will be interesting to see if they line up with the announcements made at the real showcase next week.

AestheticGamer separates theirResident Evilshowcase predictions into betting tiers, with the “HAPPENING” tier likely the most interesting to fans. They believe that the showcase will include aResident Evil 8trailerand gameplay demonstration, along with a release date announcement and pre-orders going live. They also believe that Capcom will talk aboutResident Evil’s 25th anniversary during the showcase, which could involve announcements not related toResident Evil 8.

This includes the announcement of thesecretResident Evilmultiplayer gamethat’s in development. The existence of theResident Evilmultiplayer game, apparently going by the codename Dominion, was outed thanks to a testing announcement by the Resident Evil Ambassador program. Since Capcom is already testing the game, it wouldn’t be all that surprising for the company to make the announcement during the showcase.

And finally, the last announcement that AestheticGamer believes is “happening” at theResident Evilshowcase is a PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X upgrade forResident Evil 7. SinceResident Evil 7’s storyleads directly into the events ofResident Evil 8, this upgrade would make sense. It would give fans who missed out on the originalRE7release a chance to play the game with next-generation enhancements and prepare themselves forResident Evil 8’s launch later this year.

AestheticGamer also provides predictions that they believe are far less likely to happen during the showcase. This includes a PlayStation timed-exclusiveResident Evil 8demo, which has been rumored before, as well as new information on theResident Evil: Infinite DarknessNetflix project. Fans will just have to tune in to theResident Evilshowcase on January 21 at 2pm PST to find out more.
