Since Game Freak and Nintendo released the firstPokemongeneration, players have been creating fan art that often fuses multiple Pokemon together into a unique creation. OnePokemonfan has decided to imagine the Gen 1 Pokemon Dodrio and Voltorb as a singular entity with incredible detail.

Reddit user Kierjames recently posted a GIF of theirPokemonfusion of Dodrio mixed with Voltorb that depicts the bird-like creature as a mostly red and white biped with wires connecting its parts. The Poke Ball replica Pokemon Voltorb is traditionally just Electric-type, while itsHisuian regional variantadds Grass-typing, and Dodrio continues to be Flying and Normal-type. Because of how long both Pokemon have been featured in the series, they have both made appearances in thePokemonanime, though Kierjames' fusion looks like something that would fit in with theDetective PikachuPokemon.

The Pokemon dubbed Voltdrio is a visibly Electric-typePokemon like Voltorb, which inspires part of its name, while the primary reflection of Dodrio is its form that may maintain the Flying-typing. The central body of Kierjames' has the red color of Voltorb juxtaposed by white and void of a face, while the three faces that extend from it via black cables have eyes that share similarities with Dodrio because of a softer stare than Voltorb. Each of the three Voltdrio heads has a fork in the middle, which presumably allows it to channel electricity, while multiple lines form a tail that extends all the way to the ground between two cable-like legs that have bright yellow talons that resemble gold wire.

Electricity flashes around Voltdrio in Kierjames’Pokemonfan art that animates the fused Pokemon as if it were stationary in an in-game battle sequence. Although Voltdrio maintains many of the mechanical features of Voltorb, the body and heads are notably softer in appearance, which suggests that they likely have a feathery texture like Dodrio. Because Dodrio already has forked hair, the forks that top Voltdrio’s heads don’t look out of place as tuning forks and translate well to thePokemonElectric-typing.

ManyPokemonfans have expressed enthusiasm for Kierjames' Voltdrio, with a couple comparing the fusion to Marvel’s Black Bolt, and others referencing a grim scene fromDoctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness. Although some responses to Kierjames' fan art suggest that Voltorb and Dodrio have been lackluster fromPokemonGen 1until the Voltdrio fusion, others praised Voltorb and Dodrio for their positive qualities. Some other Pokemon that fans have suggested Kierjames cover in future fusions include Machamp, Pikachu, Scyther, Shedninja, and Glaceon, while the artist has confirmed their nextPokemonpiece centers on Snorlax.
