InLast Epoch, there are five Base Classes that players can choose from when beginning a new playthrough. Each of these Classes has unique abilities, proficiencies, and general playstyle that sets them apart from the others.
Each Base Class is further customizable through Mastery Class selection, which will enable you to make a secondary choice to further equip your character with a specific set of skills and abilities within the widerBase Class option. However, to gain access to Mastery Classes, players will first need to unlock this by working their way through the game.

How to Unlock Mastery in Last Epoch, Explained
To unlockClass Mastery inLast Epoch, players will first need to progress through tothe end of Chapter 2. During Chapter 2, you will go up against the Husk of Elder Pannion in a boss fight, who you must defeat in battle before being able to progress forward and unlock Mastey. After defeating Elder Pannion, you will be led toward the End of Time, where you can accept a quest titled “The Power of Mastery”. from the Forgotten Knight.
After speaking to this character, she will redirect you to an individual known as Elder Gaspar. To speak to him, you will need to walk the the left, past the merchants, and follow the floating rock staircase up to the second floor. Here, you will come across Elder Gaspar, who will be indicated with a gold marker over his head. Upon talking to him, you will be presented with the choice to select a Mastery Class, setting you up for the rest of your playthrough.

However, it’s important to note that in order to select a Mastery Class at this point, you must have invested 20 Passive Points into yourLast EpochBase Class, which are gained through completing quests and leveling up. There are plenty of opportunities to gain these during the first two chapters of the game, so you shouldn’t have any significant struggles, but if you find yourself coming up short, you’ll need to head out and grind a few more levels to meet this requirement.
Mastery Classes are also a one-time choice that is finalized for the rest of the game, so be sure you read each one through carefully before making your choice. You will not be able to change this at any point going forward, so if you wish to try out a different Mastery Class, you’ll, unfortunately, have to begin another separate playthrough and repeat everything required to reach the end of Chapter 2 and Mastery selection.

However, if you wish to change things around after making your Mastery Class selection, you will be able to fine-tune and customize your build through the Skill Trees and Nodes function, which enables you to tweak your abilities to your liking or playstyle through various ‘Node’ add-ons, or evenrespec Skill Points or Passive Pointsto slightly alter the core strengths of your character.
