It’s not often that a video game gets new DLC content three years on from its original release, let alone a brand-new season pass. The fact thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarothadn’t received any meaningful updates in well over a year whenthe “Bardock - Alone Against Fate” DLC was announcedin late 2022 made the new content all the more surprising.

With the release coinciding with the game’s next-gen update, its developers will not only be hoping to attract new players but also to encourage those who have already completed the game to return for the new content. With several years having passed since many last played the game though, remembering how to heal inDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwill likely be high on most players' agendas.

How to Heal in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

There are a few different ways to heal inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the simplest of which is touse recovery items. These can be bought from shops, found scattered throughout the game’s world, or received as rewards for completing side quests. Players can use items from the main menu while outside of battle or by using the D-Pad followed by a face button during a fight. For the latter, however, players will need to have assigned the item that they want to use to one of the face buttons at some point in advance via the Items menu.

Given that both recovery items andZeni will be hard to come bywhen players first get started though, recovery items should be used sparingly, at least to begin with. Luckily, players can completely refill their HP byvisiting a campfireand either selecting “Rest” or preparing themselves a meal. Each area typically has several campfires for players to visit, so they should never have to travel too far to restore their health. Campfires are found next to training grounds, which are marked with a green bicep icon on the map.

In addition to using recovery items and campfires,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotplayers can heal byleveling a character up. This can be done by battling and completing side quests or by using experience-granting items, which can be farmed bytraining with Whis and Beeruswhile playing the Battle of Gods DLC. Unfortunately, however, items will not carry over into other DLC episodes, meaning that those playing through “Trunks: The Warrior of Hope” or “Bardock: Alone Against Fate” will have to rely on battling alone to level up their characters.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
