Skyrimhas been one of Bethesda’s most popular games for over a decade. The 10th-anniversary update added free new creation club content and graphical updates. Veteran players looking to start their next playthrough or beginners starting their journey are sure to find something new and unexpected.
Similar to other Bethesda RPGs, the player can recruit followers. These companions will follow the Dragonbornand aid them in fights. Followers can be downed during combat and if they are attacked while in this state they will be permanently killed. Players can place potions into their inventory, but this method can be buggy with followers only using bought potions. It’s far easier to use certain restoration spells that are made for healing them. Follow this guide to learn the methods for healing followers inSkyrim.

Restoration Spells
Colette Marence is a teacherat the College of Winterhold. She is a master of Restoration spells and can train the Dragonborn in them. She also sells the best spells once the Dragonborn has reached certain thresholds in the Restoration skill.
Heal Other
Heals the target by 75 points, costs 80 magicka to cast
Purchase from Colette when Restoration skill is 40+

Grand Healing
Heals the caster and nearby allies by 200 points, costs 254 magicka to cast
Purchase from Colette when Restoration skill is 65+
Healing Hands
Players just starting out with low Restoration will only be able to use the Healing Hands spell. This spell can also be acquired from Colette but is purchasable elsewhere if the Dragonborn does not yet have access to the College of Winterhold. The most convenient seller will be Farengar, the court wizard of Whiterun. This is an Apprentice-level restoration spell that players should be able to use early on. Similar to the normal healing spell, it needs to be held to continuously heal. It consumes 25 magicka per second while being used, so it’s best forSkyrimplayers to level up magicka earlyand often to cast more in the future.
Healing Followers
Healing aSkyrimfolloweris as simple as equipping the Restoration spell of choice and then casting it when near them. The animations may not seem to reach that far, but casting will create an area of effect surrounding the player. Take note that these spells will not heal undead or Atronach followers.
