Summary
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC has an approach to environmental design that has left many fans eager to dive into all that the Blueberry Academy has to offer. Its landscape is accentuated by a sprawling terrarium, complete with four different biomes for players to explore. From tropical waters and palm trees to snow-filled skies and frigid temperatures, the varying climates ofthe Indigo Disk’s futuristic settingcould set the stage for new clothing customization for the player.
The lack of customization in attire was one of the primary critiques of thePokemon Scarlet and Violetbase game. Though accessories like eyewear and backpacks were offered up to the player, the constraints on a school uniform limited the true capabilities of tailoring seen in the titles' predecessors. While seasonal attire was made available through variations on the Academy clothing, the Indigo Disk has the chance to shake things up even further to accentuate the diversity of its biomes. Clothing and accessory options that differ with the climates and temperatures seen across the terrarium could allow for a wider breadth of personalization.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk Biomes Are a Great Excuse For Seasonal Attire
The characters shown throughout The Indigo Disk’s trailers have put quite the spin on theirBlueberry Academy attire; from Cyrano’s Aegislash-inspired scarf to Lacey’s hair clips and long cardigan, the accents of their designs convey a fashionable-take on the school’s clothing. Glimpses at other NPCs show quite a few variations on the school’s base attire, ranging from casual wear to more structured uniforms. Though the two player characters are seen wearing such clothing, the trailers could be holding back on disclosing the level of customization surrounding them.
It seems thatthe BB League of the Blueberry Academyhave a bit more leeway in how they customize their uniforms, and the same could apply for the player. This would be the perfect opportunity to incorporate a range of accessories that help to inspire the players' travels into each biome. For example, the arctic side of the terrarium could allow them to purchase winter gear like snow boots and googles, similar to what was available inLegends: Arceus. Being able to wear coats or cardigans atop of their uniform, akin to Lacey’s design, could go a long way in changing the look of the player’s base clothing.
One of the other biomes appears to take on a wetland approach, which could follow up in rain gear like a hooded jacket and galoshes. Alternatively, the biome that looks to take after a tropical Savanna could be the perfect excuse for more temperate clothing and accessories. As it is likely that the player will once again be constrained to wearing Academy clothing, there is hope that the number of variations will exceed that which was available inthe Paldea region. With the addition of new accessories, this could make customization feel in tune with the terrarium’s differences in climate.
With the sheer range in character design shown throughoutThe Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk’s trailers, the ability to add more player customization throughScarlet and Violet’s DLC could make all the difference in fan reception. The side characters that are set to debut in The Indigo Disk demonstrate the titles' continuation in a fashion-forward approach, which could benefit from extending to the players' own freedoms. The Blueberry Academy appears promising in this regard, though only time will tell whether its customization follows through.
