The almighty, hat-slinging Harmony Trailblazer offers a completely new take on how Harmony units work inHonkai: Star Rail. Instead of strictly being a buffer, this character is all about enabling massive spikes of damage in limited windows of time at the expense of having a weak neutral game.
As far as teams go, there’s one perfect setup for the Imaginary Trailblazer, though this character could theoretically work withotherHonkai: Star Railteamsonce players understand how they’re supposed to be played. Here’s the best team for this character so far, as well as some notes to help you understand how to make more team comps with Imaginary Trailblazer.
The Break Effect Exploit Team
Break Effect does not affect the Toughness-Reducing Damage inflicted by your characters, but Weakness Break Efficiency does.
This is arguably the best team to use with Imaginary Trailblazer, and it’s all about exploitingHSR’sToughness mechanic. It takes advantage of Ruan Mei’s Weakness Break Efficiency buff and the damage output of Break-oriented characters like Sushang and Xueyi. With the help of Ruan Mei, the entire team will be able to break Toughness bars faster, enabling Imaginary Trailblazer’s Backup Dancer buff and massively improving the damage dealt by the team’s carries.
Basically, Imaginary Trailblazer and Ruan Mei are made for each other. Xueyi is better than Sushang in most cases since she can deal Toughness damage even against enemies who aren’t weak to Quantum. Sushang will still be superior when fighting foes weak to Physical, though. In the future, characters who fill similar roles to these two can easily replace them as part of this team.
When To Use Imaginary Trailblazer In Honkai: Star Rail
Imaginary Trailblazer can be used in any team, but due to their lack of neutral ATK/DMG buffs, expect your overall damage to be lower while the enemy’s Toughness bars are still up.
The Imaginary Trailblazer is one of the most uniqueHarmony characters inHonkai: Star Railso far. Instead of outright buffing teammates, this character is all aboutcreating damage windowsfor the entire team. Once enemies enter the Weakness Broken state, Imaginary Trailblazer’s Ultimate allows the team to deal massive damage via Super Break procs.
Given the unique niche that Imaginary Trailblazer occupies, it’s hard to justify putting them in any other team that doesn’t capitalize on breaking Toughness bars. If you don’t have Ruan Mei, you’ll have to fill the support slot with another character who can easily break weaknesses, such as Asta or Sampo. If you do have Ruan Mei, then you can simply follow the team above and fill the DPS and Sustain slots with characters who are strong against the enemies you’re about to face.
Compared to support units like Robin, it’s almost impractical to use Imaginary Trailblazer as the sole Harmony character in the team. While it’s hard to discredit how powerful Super Break procs can get, this character offers very little against enemies that are not weak to Imaginary damage or those who still have their Toughness bars up.
On the other hand, enemies will eventually become Weakness Broken when fought with a good team, and when their Toughness bars do break, Imaginary Trailblazer’s full potential shines as long as they can cast their Ultimate.
