Because the Hogwarts Express is fittingly featured inHogwarts Legacyas it is in theHarry Potterfilms, players have explored in and around it, with one discovering that the game won’t allow players to get hit by the train. Although someHarry Potterfans have expressed disappointment in being unable to ride the Hogwarts Express inHogwarts Legacy, another player had different ideas for the train.
A Reddit user recently shared a clip focusing onHogwarts Legacy’s train that players may encounter in the main story and different areas like Hogsmeade Station. Because theHogwarts Legacycustomized characterjoins the school in their fifth year, they are transported to the castle after completing a series of challenges through a portkey. The Hogwarts Express is often used to transport wizard school students from the muggle world to the magical one, but it doesn’t function exactly as players like this expected.

Reddit user TheDataPanda has garnered 3,400 upvotes on aHogwarts Legacyvideo showing their character standing on the train tracks between Hogwarts Valley and the South Hogwarts Region. The clip highlightsHogwarts Legacy’s Hogwarts Express hurtling toward the student before colliding with them in a way that would normally suggest would cause an instant death. Rather than having to restart from a priorHogwarts Legacysave, the player was disappointed to see that their character phases through the train with no collision as if it was a ghost train.
The train doesn’t slow as it approaches theHogwarts Legacyprotagoniststanding in a closed part of the tracks, with a lot of its inner workings coming into view as it proceeds overtop of TheDataPanda’s character. The locomotive is rendered well, with many finer details featured in the front portion of the train, with the cabins that would normally have seating at storage being empty aside from the windows that face the outskirts of Hogwarts. As the video concludes,Hogwarts Legacysaves a checkpoint for TheDataPanda which would hilariously place them near the tail end of the train upon respawning.
With players unable to land their broomsticks on the top of the Hogwarts Express, TheDataPanda may have been looking for another way of interacting with the train that’s synonymous with theHarry Potterfranchise. Because there’snoHogwarts LegacyDLC in the works, it’s currently unclear if the train will ever be adjusted so that players could board it for a quest, transport back to the muggle world, or be hit by it as TheDataPanda intended.
Hogwarts Legacyis out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming May 5 and a Nintendo Switch port dropping July 25.
