Warner Bros. Games has announced that actor Tom Felton, famous for playingSlytherin poster boy Draco Malfoyin theHarry Potterfilms, will participate in an upcoming event related to one ofHogwarts Legacy’s most harrowing storylines.
Hogwarts Legacyreleased this past February and, despite a few controversies, has been generally embraced by players as a welcome bit of wish fulfillment forHarry Potterfans who always wanted to attend Hogwarts during the day and fight trolls and dark wizards at night. In the game, players meet a variety of students from the four Hogwarts houses, including Sebastian Sallow, a Slytherin determined to cure his sister Anne of a horrible curse no matter the consequences. Sebastian’s quest has been praised for its writing as players watch the young Slytherin gradually succumb to dark magic in the naming of saving his sister. Players also are given access to Unforgivable Curses while completing the storyline.

Warner Bros. Games has revealed that Drago Malfoy himself will get a chance tointeract with Sebastianwith a brief TikTok video showing Tom Felton sitting in darkness amid audio fromHogwarts Legacywherein Sebastian Sallow gives his introduction to the player. After a creepy violin sting, Felton turns to the camera and offers a “Hello, Sebastian” in response. Then, on-screen text announces an event called “Into The Shadows With Tom Felton.” The text attached to the TikTok reads: “It’s true then. Tom Felton has come to Hogwarts. Check back in on May 9 at 9 a.m. PT to watch.”
Given the positive response toHogwarts Legacyby players, “Into The Shadows” will likely prove a popular gaming event. After all, Felton was mostHarry Potterfans' introduction to Slytherin House and the potential for cruelty, greed, and ultimately conflict within students whose magical education is paired with the wrong values. It will be especially interesting to see if Felton hasany insights into Sebastian’s downfallor if he notices any of Draco’s own tendencies baked into the new character. Also compelling is the notion of watching Felton try to master the game’s combat, though it’s unclear how much practice he’ll have before the start of the event. SinceHogwarts Legacyallows the player to choose their house — no matter where they are sorted — we can only assume Felton will stay on brand and play as a Slytherin.
Even so, perhaps Felton won’t follow Sebastian into the darkness. Maybe the actor is tired of being evil and will refuse to learn the Unforgivable Curses, opting instead to caution Sebastian against going too far in his quest to rid Anne of her terrible curse. Or maybe Felton knows what the internet really wants and will immediatelystart casting Avada Kedavraas soon as he’s able.
Hogwarts Legacyis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X with a Switch version coming July 25.
