Peyote is a certain type of hallucinogenic cactus that has been used by Native Americans for many hundreds of years and was popularized in the West by the writings of Carlos Castaneda. InGTA 5, players are able to collect and consume peyote specimens, which will temporarily grant them an animal form - much like the effects described by Castaneda. The plants are very small and can be difficult to spot, though they can be identified by their spherical shape and petaled flowers coming out of the top.
The plants willnot be available all year roundand tend to only appear in conjunction with special in-game events. In total, there are 76 possible peyote locations inGTA Online, while a separate set of plants can also be found inGTA 5’s single-player mode.
Once eaten, players can transforminto a variety of animals, from dolphins to mountain lions, stingrays, and sasquatches. Several plants can be found underwater, though the vast majority are to be found on land. The animals are semi-randomized, so it is not entirely possible to predict which animal players will become upon consuming the peyote cactus. In animal form, players will be granted unique movement and attacks, though, in safe mode, these will not work on opposing players.

Found at the end of the Los Santos River near the industrial estate in Cypress Flats.
