The highlight of the trailer was the ending, in which Kratos is knocked back and slides on the frozen ground. The camera turns to reveal that his opponent isThor, one of the main antagonists that players will be able to fight against inGod of War: Ragnarok. Kratos then throws his Leviathan Axe at the God of Thunder, who deflects the attack by throwing his hammer, causing the two weapons to clash as lightning sparks around them.

In addition to the fight with Thor, the beginning of the trailer raised a lot of questions about the upcoming sequel. Atreus talks about keeping secrets from loved ones in order to protect them as Kratos drops his weapons. The trailer then transitions toTyr joining Kratosand Atreus on their quest and wondering what they want from him. Tyr was an important character from the previous game’s lore, though he wasn’t actually seen, so it will be interesting to learn more about him and his relationship with the protagonists in this sequel.

Afterwards, Kratos confronts Atreus about keeping secrets from him, only for his son to refuse to answer him, instead stating that he simply needs the God of War to trust him. Kratos replies that despite not believing in Atreus' leadership, he follows him, revealing how much has changed between the previous game andGod of War: Ragnarok, as Kratos led Atreus on their journey. They then express their concern for one another, with Kratos stating that Atreus does not need to protect him.

As fans have been excited about the inevitable clash between the Gods of War and Lightning ever since the ending scene ofGod of War, where Thor arrived at Kratos' home, ready to attack him and Atreus, this was a great way to end the trailer. In addition, it likely gets fans even more excited about the release of the next installment in the franchise.
