These exceptional numbers will, hopefully, prompt Sony to port even more of its exclusivesto PC in the future. The company’s other former exclusives likeHorizon Zero Dawnexperienced similar levels of success on launch as well. The decision to begin porting PlayStation exclusive games to PC was seemingly brought on by pressure from developers at Sony who saw the potential profit in the idea. The idea has paid serious dividends for the company and one can’t help but wonder if this may encourage Sony to make nearly all of its games timed exclusives.

The game’s support from the PC community may also be the result ofGod of War’s director encouraging players to make modsfor the game. Cory Barlog, the game’s director, stated that there are plans to implement mod support in the future. Barlog did, however, state that this may take some time as the systems used to make the game were custom and complicated.

TheGod of WarPC port’s ultrawide monitor supportalso drew interest from the PC community. According to Matt Dewald,God of War’s senior manager of technical production, ultrawide support was difficult to implement because the developers had to go through the entire game and manually adapt anything that looked out of place.

God of War’ssuccess on PCis only the beginning for Playstation in 2022.
