Sucker Punch’s Playstation 4 exclusiveGhost of Tsushimalanded last July, and isalready dominating sales charts in the UK and elsewhere. Players have started to take notice of items going missing from their inventories, and one player documented the glitch after yesterday’s Update 1.06 patch.

Players on Twitter and Reddit describe a bug inGhost of Tsushimawhich seems to be centered around players' items, particularly their ghost weapons and ammo, disappearing from their inventory when a player starts the game, resumes from a checkpoint, or uses a hot spring. This is not the first bug players have encountered. One player figured out how tomake enemy arrows give them the ability to fly. The inventory glitch is not nearly as fun, and is easy to miss. Some players claim that the bug existed on launch day, but it was difficult to prove.

The effect would be understandable if it were restricted only to checkpoints, the player character is “reset” to base stats when starting from a checkpoint, meaning ammo which exceeds the default setting will disappear. The same thing seems to happen whenever a player uses one of the hot springs for rest and contemplation. This can pose a problem for players whounlock the Fundoshi armorand find their inventory is lighter than when they started.

Another hilarious bug, which may or may not still be in the game, occurs when Jin uses a hot spring when hostile forces are nearby. He will sit down, relax, andcontemplate the moral dilemmas he must facewhile enemy arrows fly in. Damage, it appears, resets the dialogue, meaning Jin will acknowledge repeatedly his uncle is getting older or reflect on a childhood memory until he keels over. Fortunately, this bug could be easily fixed by programming Jin to get out of the hot spring if he takes damage, and the 1.06 patch may have already addressed it.

The more complicated a game gets, the more likely glitches will pop up from between the lines of code. Sucker Punch can be forgiven for not getting to this particular glitch yet, but there are some things it could be doing better to improve its bug-reporting process.

Unfortunately the process for reporting a bug inGhost of Tsushimais not at all clear. Sucker Punch has no public forums, no contact us form, and no official place to alert the developer to game glitches. Players are encouraged to instead contact Sucker Punch via Twitter or Facebook, or to seek help from PlayStation Support.

Sucker Punch is clearly working hard to make its game both a fully functional and fun war game, but also an exquisitely beautiful story ofa samurai in feudal Japan. The developers have a lot to be proud of. EvenYakuzadirector Toshihiro Nagoshi likesGhost of Tsushima. The studio must still remain mindful if it wishes to stay on top of game glitches and keep its player base happy.

Ghost of Tsushimais available exclusively for PlayStation 4.
