The Sumeru region inGenshin Impactis filled with underground caves and pathways, which leads to a problem with teleport waypoints scattered across the map. Sumeru is just one of many areas found withinGenshin Impact, and the region will soon expand with a series of new updates.

Reddit user u/smaad pointed out an issue with the current in-game map depicting Sumeru and certain teleport waypoints. Two teleport waypoints near the Devantaka Mountain indicate locations on the ground like normal waypoints should. However, these waypoints are actually underground and may be reached by entering a cave system. As a result, some players are confused about the exact location since the map depicted the teleport waypoint as being above ground instead of underground.

Smaad points out both waypoints on the map and other Reddit users discuss similar issues withfast traveling inGenshin Impact. Since the teleport waypoints do not visibly indicate an above ground or underground on the map, some players have mistakenly fast traveled into a Sumeru cave system instead of the land above. Some players suggest HoYoverse should introduce a separate Sumeru map forGenshin Impactthat depicts the region’s cave systems and underground waypoints. HoYoverse previously introduced the Chasm, which is a vast underground cave system in Liyue with its own separate map.

TheTeyvat Interactive map forGenshin Impactdepicts underground teleport waypoints with a small cave symbol. The symbol allows players to easily distinguish teleport waypoints that are above ground and underground. The in-game map does not contain these cave indicators, so players who want to use the Teyvat Interactive map while playingGenshin Impactmust switch tabs on PC or use a separate device.

Genshin Impact’sin-game mapstill has room for improvement, and the Teyvat Interactive map is a favorite among the most devotedGenshin Impactplayers. HoYoverse should listen to feedback regarding Sumeru and its cave systems since players continue to voice frustrations with the current map layout. These problems could be solved by combining useful elements of the Teyvat Interactive map with the currentGenshin Impactmap.

Genshin Impactversions 3.1 through 3.5will expand Sumeru with new desert areas, and map changes could improve the in-game experience for those traversing the region. Player feedback is critical throughout development ofGenshin Impact, so future updates could potentially bring the changes some players desire most.

Genshin Impactis available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
