Summary
Dragon’s Dogma 2is a huge game with a ton of missable content and post-game fun that players can circle back to after completing their destiny as the Arisen. However, all good things must eventually come to an end, and players who have enjoyed Capcom’s action RPG will likely be on the lookout for similar adventures.
Naturally, many of the best fantasy RPGs are perfect options for fans ofDragon’s Dogma 2, but players might also want to try out games with a similar combat style, or who enjoy the Pawn andparty system.

The director ofDragon’s Dogma 2, Hideaki Itsuno, also happens to be the visionary behind theDevil May Cryseries, including the fifth installment,Devil May Cry 5. While this guarantee of quality is one reason why fans of the two games can overlap, players who enjoy the Trickstervocation inDD2will likely find great joy inDMC 5’s combat.
This is because, rather than asking playersifthey can kill certain enemies,Devil May Cry 5asks playershowthey are going to kill them. In other words, the game encourages creative takedowns, just like the Trickster vocation, and gifts players the ability to perform crazy combos that simply look great.

It is often the case that a second or third installment in a series breaks new ground and puts all previous entries to shame. However, as great asDragon’s Dogma 2is, and although it improves on the original in almost every way, the originalDragon’s Dogmais still very much worth a playthrough for newcomers to the series.
On top of a completely different story, players will get to play a few vocations that weren’t included in the sequel, such as the Strider and Mystic Knight. As an older game, the original also hasthe advantage of running at better framerates, which has been one of the critiques ofDD2.

If players love wanderingmedieval fantasy worldsslaying monsters and helping out NPCs, then it’s hard to go wrong withThe Witcher 3. Based on a book series that has subsequently been turned into a TV series too, the world ofThe Witcheris incredibly fleshed out, and players will take on the role of the White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia, a trained and mutated monster slayer who carries a steel sword for human foes, and a silver sword for monsters.
The game is heavily praised for its story, with an incredible cast of three-dimensional characters who breathe life into every cutscene. Thus, if players find themselves wanting more in this regard fromDragon’s Dogma 2, but still want a similar combat experience,The Witcher 3is the way to go.

Baldur’s Gate 3is one of the greatest games ever made and anyone with even a slight interest in RPGs and fantasy worlds would likely enjoy it. However, it is a particularly good recommendation for those who enjoy managing their party and Pawns inDragon’s Dogma 2, as this is a huge part ofBG3. Unless players are enjoying co-op with their friends, they can invite up to three companions to their party and have many more at camp.
UnlikeDD2, however, these characters are fully fleshed out with their own storylines, voice-overs, and unique interactions. In combat, which is turn-based, players take control of each of their party members in turn, allowing them to play asmultiple classesin a single playthrough.

Dragon’s Dogma 2isa game with natural and rewarding exploration, where players are encouraged to venture off the beaten path to seek unknown adventures. If this is something players enjoyed in their time as the Arisen, then they will loveElden Ring, which, with its more beautiful and varied world, arguably pulls off the vision better.
While players will have to venture the Lands Between mostly alone without any Pawns, they can summon Spirit Ashes to fight alongside them, and some boss fights allow the Tarnished to summon Cooperators. In terms of combat, players will likely findElden Ringmore challenging, with a greater emphasis on timing and learning the intricacies of each boss' move set.

When searching for similar games, a good place to look is the same developer library. One ofCapcom’s biggest franchises isMonster Hunter, with the most recent and arguably the best installment beingMonster Hunter Rise. Compared withDragon’s Dogma 2, there is less exploration, but this is more than made up for with a bigger focus on the boss battles themselves.
The combat is very similar in the two games, meaning if players get an adrenaline rush in one, they will likely feel at home in the other. AsDragon’s Dogma 2is an entirely single-player game,Monster Hunter Riseis a great option for those who want to take down formidable foes with their friends.
