The N64 classic has seen remakes and references over the years, with many holding it in high regard. Players will often find it creeping into top 10 lists for the best Nintendo 64 games ever made and many classify it as one of their favorite FPS experiences of all time. Although there hasn’t been another GoldenEye 007, there are still some great story-driven FPS experiences out there that will give players a different yet somewhat similar experience. 13Far Cry 3
Although it’s much more polished than GoldenEye 007 in terms of its visual aspects and gameplay, Far Cry 3 is very on point with the Nintendo 64 classic in terms of its story-driven campaign. Considered by many fans to be one of the best Far Cry games ever made, players will be on the edge of their seats as they make their way through the open world of the fictionalized Rook Islands.
Thanks to stellar character design, some pretty entertaining conflicts, and some seriously fun gunplay, Far Cry 3 sticks out as one of the best story-driven FPS titles ever made and is a ton of fun for anyone who enjoys the franchise or is looking for something to keep them engaged as they battle through tons of enemies and other dangers.

Spec Ops: The Line is perhaps one of the most jarringly different titles on this list when compared with GoldenEye 007 as it’s a third-person cover-based shooter rather than a traditional FPS adventure. What helps Spec Ops stand out among the crowd is its absolutely gripping story, which has players stepping into the shoes of a military man on a mission in a strange and seemingly warped area buried among the sands of Dubai.
Players will find a lot to love about Spec Ops narrative, with interesting characters, mind-bending twists, and some truly tense moments.
11Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
Those looking for something from the same era as GoldenEye 007 should definitely check out Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. The rather unorthodox FPS from developer Iguana Entertainment became a cult classic with fans and sold quite well for the company. In fact, it was well-received enough to spark its own trilogy, with the second game being held in high regards thanks to the addition of a multiplayer mode.
Although the over-arching story is a bit up in the air thanks to a lack of much narrative, the gameplay is stellar and feels on-point with the James Bond classic that fans have come to know and love. Anyone who has not had the opportunity to check out the interesting and engaging dinosaur-hunting FPS is missing out on a grand experience that spans three games.
10Metro Exodus
These two first-person shooter games were developed years apart, yet there are similarities to identify. BothMetro ExodusandGoldenEye 007take place in a Russia, with the latter being set in the Soviet Union before it was dissolved.
