Ryan Reynolds reunites with director Shawn Levy (after the two worked together on last year’sFree Guy) inNetflix’s upcoming sci-fi adventureThe Adam Project. While it isn’t scheduled to release until next month, the film is already getting many positive reactions.
Netfix’sThe Adam Projectstars Reynolds as Adam, a pilot who travels back in time to get help from his younger self in order to confront their late father. The film also starsbig names such as Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, and Catherine Keener. The film is co-written by T.S. Nowlin (The Maze Runner,Pacific Rim: Uprising), duo Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett (Journey to the Center of the Earth), and Jonathan Tropper (This Is Where I Leave You,Kodachrome).

The officialAdam Projecttrailer, which dropped today, isn’t the only exciting news surrounding the film. Now, early reactions have been pouring in, with many comparing the sci-fi flick to classics such asStar WarsandBack to the Futureand other films made by Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment back in the 1980s. Judging from the high praise, it appears Levy and Reynolds have another hit on their hands, as it seems much of their film has carried over the same science fiction elements and emotionally resonating themes that can be seen inFree Guy.

As for Netflix, it shows no signs of slowing down, as its recently released preview trailer highlights some big blockbusters like Rian Johnson’sKnives Out 2andThe Russo Brothers’The Gray Manmaking their debut on the platform in 2022. WithThe Adam Projectset to be a big hit, the sky’s the limit in terms of what Netflix can achieve next.
