Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DXhas an easy-to-understand upgrade system for a roguelike. Players will go on missions and based on how they do, they’ll get money for their job. Even if they die, some sort of monetary value will be given to players. Also in death, all rescued citizens will remain rescued.

At first, players can only upgrade three things with their equipment. Eventually, players will start to rescue key citizens who will unlock new ways to upgrade the titular Firegirl and her department. These are just a few of thebest upgrade paths players can takeinFiregirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX.

Water Tank

The first two upgrades can be interchangeable and all amount to the same thing. To become a better firefighter, players have to increase their water supply and their tank pressure. The water supply makes it easier to extinguish fires since they will have more water on hand while the pressure gives that burst of water a bigger arc.

It also helps with pressurized jumping, making it easier toplatform around environments. Players should only put one rank each into these two upgrade stations at first but keep coming back after a certain NPC vendor is unlocked.

Grab Some Armor

The only other thing players can upgrade right away is armor. Players might miss this area of the firehouse instinctually because this isa 2D game. They are programmed to go left to right in one of these types of experiences. However, at the starting position, which is in an alleyway, players can turn around and enter the armor shop.

They can purchase boots, a jacket, and a hat. Each item will give players one armor bonus to their health which is like an extra heart. Hearts can be healed while playing a level but there is no way to patch armor. Thankfully, the armor replenishesafter every roguelikerun-inFiregirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX. Buy one of these pieces of armor, like the boots, for starters, and hold off again until that aforementioned NPC is unlocked. Later on, players can pay a chef to increase the health itself but that will be one of the last NPCs players unlock. It may take a while which is why armor is more important for now.

Negotiate Taxes

Levels are randomized so it is hard to tell how long it will take to unlock Vinny. Rescuing survivors in a run will reward players with money. Sometimes these survivors will become vendors at the firehouse. The aforementioned Vinny works with taxes and should be the first or second vendor players can unlock.

Again, how long is hard to say as things are randomized as is standardfor a roguelike. However long it takes, wait to upgrade anything else until taking his tax break incentives. Players can decrease the cost of all upgrades and also increase their salary with a separate upgrade. Decrease the cost first and then increase the salary. Vinny will make it extremely easy to power-level upgrades in the game.

Infirmary Upgrade

The death penalty inFiregirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DXis not that bad comparedto other roguelikesout there. If players manage to complete a level and rescue all major survivors, they will reap excellent rewards. Even if players die, key items will be saved such as important NPCs and Fire Tomes. The latter of the two items will move the story along.

Players will still get money for a failed job too. Part of that money goes back to the bank as players have to pay a hospital bill for falling on the job. However, with the Infirmary Upgrade perk, the cost of repairs is decreased the more players invest in it. Don’t waste a lot of money on this upgrade but put in a couple of ranks at least.

Fundraising Campaign

Putting ranks into both of Vinny’s upgrades will increase cash flow and decrease the cost of upgrades. It is the best way to maximize money inFiregirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX. However, it is not the only wayto increase money. There is an upgrade tree related to fan adoration.

Players can gain fans by completing missions quickly, and thoroughly, and by extinguishing fires even if it isn’t necessary. The more fans players possess, the more monetary donations they can gain from them. This PR-like upgrade tree can increase how much money fans donate and how quickly players can gain new fans. Tax breaks are better, but increase the number of fans too.

Truck Upgrade

Players are not given a lot of time in each mission to both find survivors and make it out of a situation alive. It can be daunting to see that timer tick down almost like this was built to be played atsome speedrunning convention. MaybeFiregirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DXcan gain enough popularity in the indie community to make it into the next Summer Games Done Quick convention.

There are several ways to increase time in the game. The best way is to find clock items in the levels that will add extra time to the clock temporarily. Players can also upgrade their truck so that the time limit permanently increases the more players invest in it. The upgrade can get expensive, but two ranks is a good starting number.
