Fire Emblem Heroesis a mobile tactical RPG with over 1,000 playable units for players to build and customize. With more than 20 years of franchise characters available and continuous additions,Fire Emblem Heroesshows no signs of slowing down.
When it comes to building Heroes, skills are a crucial aspect to consider. Each Hero comes with a set of skills they can learn, but sometimes these alone are not enough to maximize their potential. The Inherit Skill feature allows players to sacrifice units (aka fodder units) to pass their skills onto another Hero. This guide will explain how Inherit Skill works and its various restrictions.

How to Use Inherit Skill
Inherit Skill can be found in the Ally Growth section under the Allies tab. This feature can be used between any two units, regardless of their levels and rarities. There is also no requirement for the fodder unit to have learned the skills prior, as both learned and unlearned skills can be donated. While there is no limit to how many skills a Hero can inherit, each fodder unit can only donate up to five skills. After skills have been inherited, the Hero must still spend Skill Points (SP) to learn them.
Players will lose the fodder unit permanently after skills have been donated, so it is crucial to make sure the correct units and skills are selected.

While most skillscan be donated, there are three main restrictions on what skills a Hero can inherit.
Players can use the Skill Search function at the bottom to quickly find units with the desired skills. A blue check mark indicates a unit possesses the skill, while a gray check mark indicates that a unit can gain access to it at a higher rarity.
In addition to the restrictions, Heroes cannot directly inherit high tier skills unless they also inherit the prerequisite skills alongside them or have learned them prior. For example, if a Hero wishes to inherit Swift Sparrow 3, they must also inherit Swift Sparrow 1 and 2 simultaneously or have learned them beforehand.
The tier of skills that a fodder unit can donate is also sometimes dependent on its rarity. For example, a 3-Star Young Lion Roy only has access to Triangle Adept 2, while the 4-Star version of Roy has access to Triangle Adept 3. Players can make use ofthe Unlock Potential featureto inherit higher tier skills from fodder units.
For efficiency, players can have Heroes inherit lower tier skills from low rarity units and save the donation slots of a 5-Star fodder unit for high tier skills only.
The Inherit Skill feature is an excellent way for players to enhance Heroes and boost their power. However, some of the most coveted skills are possessed by only a handful of limited 5-Star units, making them a costly investment. Despite this, with numerous options available, players can definitely find budget alternatives to achieve their desired builds.
