Now that most players who had startedElden Ringmonths ago have finished its story, players have enjoyed finding creative builds to experiment with in the game’s PvP system.PvP is where a lot of FromSoftware games find their longevityas players can test their combat expertise against other players through invasions, or help others best particularly difficult bosses through cooperative summons.
There are different metas all the time for what is the most effective build inElden Ring, such as what is used in many speedrun categories. However, a lot ofElden Ring’s fun as an action RPG comes from its role-playing.Elden Ringfans have created custom characters such as Wolverine, Voldemort, or even Willem Dafoe. Recently, two players have faced one another while role-playing as two popular characters from two of the most popular fantasy and science-fiction franchises today: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Doctor Strange.

Redditor u/Dramatic_Ad_7938 shares footage of their customElden Ringcharacter, who is fashioned to look and play as an emulation ofStar Wars’ Obi-Wan Kenobi, engaging in a PvP duel with a player, who is designed to look and play like Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Obi-Wan wields a sword that they can imbue with Magic Grease to illuminate it in a blue glow similarly to the character’s lightsaber and lobs the Stone of Gurranq incantation as a representation of the Force. Meanwhile, the Doctor Strange opponent utilizes a wide array of incantations as a Master of the Mystic Arts.
Doctor Strange buffs themselves with the Law of Causality incantation, which features arm movements similar to Doctor Strange’s own incantations, before casting the Triple Rings of Light incantation at Obi-Wan. Doctor Strange also fires a single Lightning Spear, casts a spray of Scouring Black Flame, and launches a flame spell, which Obi-Wan either tanks or dodges as they try to close the distance.
Elden Ring’s Stone of Gurranq incantationproves effective for disrupting the animation on one of Strange’s spells, and just as Strange can prepare Radagon’s Rings of Light, Obi-Wan strikes Strange down in the middle of the animation. However, Strange’s attack manages to register at the same time and kills Obi-Wan. Both characters perish in the same instant and synchronously buckle to their knees as the “YOU DIED” title card appears.
ThisElden RingPvP duelshows how creative players can be with their customizations and how vastly interpretiveElden Ring’s armor, armaments, and abilities can be, even without mods that introduce actual character models. These builds may not be meta, but they are nonetheless fun to see, especially in PvP that matches up beloved characters from different IPs.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
