Because of The Game Awards,Elden Ringis back to dominating gaming conversations (not that it ever truly stopped), but it seems FromSoftware wanted to give fans another reason to discuss it with the upcoming Colosseum update. Many fans have been eager forElden Ring’s Colosseumsto open, ever since they were found, and FromSoftware is doing just that on December 7.

FromSoftware has released a new trailer forElden Ringthat highlights combat within these Colosseums. The PVP community has long been active—in fact,Elden Ring’s PVP has certain unwritten rulesmany players follow—and now they’ll be able to participate in PVP another way.

OnceElden Ring’s December 7 update is live, theColosseums of Limgrave, Lyndell, and Caelidwill open their gates for players. FromSoftware has obviously left some mystery to these, but it has also confirmed players can take part in duels, free-for-alls, and team fights. Free-for-all PVP withElden Ringsounds like the perfect sort of chaos to throw into the mix. And the best part is that some believed the Colosseums would be paid DLC; it’s not. The Colosseum update is free for everyone.

Of course, that doesn’t mean premiumElden RingDLCisn’t on the way. It’s interesting that this update is releasing the day before The Game Awards take place, especially because many fans are hoping to see a DLC announcement at the show. It could be that it’s not there, or it could be that this is just an appetizer for a major announcement at The Game Awards. For now, fans will just have to wait and see what comes out of the show.

No matter what,Elden Ringwill have a heavy presence at The Game Awards.Elden Ringhas seven nominations, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Audio Design, and Best RPG. Its stiffest competition isGod of War Ragnarok, which received a total of ten nominations (three more thanElden Ring), but it’ll be interesting to see which game walks away with more awards and, perhaps where the competition is hottest, which one walks away with the coveted Game of the Year award.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
