Disney Lorcanaoriginally hit the marketin August 2023 as the first-ever TCG from German toy manufacturer Ravensburger. The company followed up on that release with four expansion sets, the latest of which debuted in May 2024. A month later, Ravensburger announced the game’s fifth expansion, Shimmering Skies. The company has been gradually unveiling the contents of the upcoming set ever since.
Game Rant can now exclusively unveil eight additional Shimmering Skies character cards based onDisney’sSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs. All of them are classified as Knights, with the batch being headlined by Snow White - Fair-Hearted, a Super Rare card illustrated by Aubrey Archer. This character has been designed to synergize with other Knight cards, such as the seven Shimmering Skies dwarfs. That’s largely on account of Snow White - Fair-Hearted’s Natural Leader effect, which allows her to gain one Resist point for every other Knight character in play.
New Disney Lorcana Snow White-Themed Cards From Shimmering Skies
The Resist mechanic was originally added to the game in November 2023, having debuted as part of theDisney LorcanaRise of the Floodborn set. Each point of Resist reduces incoming damage by one, which has the potential to significantly improve a compatible character’s survivability. The way Ravensburger balanced this mechanic is by making characters with Resist effects have not-too-impressive stats on their own, meaning the only way to consistently make them worth utilizing is to ensure that they actually get buffed once they’re in play.
In other words, making the most of Snow White - Fair-Hearted will ostensibly require building a Knight-themedDisney Lorcanadeck. Fortunately, the seven dwarf cards that will debut alongside her aren’t lacking in Knight synergies of their own, which should minimize the player’s reliance on lucky draws; no matter the order in which they are played, all eight of the newly unveiled cards will benefit from standing side-by-side, ultimately posing a threat that is much greater than the sum of its parts.
The newDisney Lorcanasetwill become available for purchase next month, starting on August 9. However, that date only applies to its local game store release. Fans who prefer to do their shopping online will have to wait until August 23 to order Shimmering Skies from the Disney Store or licensed distributors.
