If you’ve been watchingLokion Disney Plus, you’ll know that last Wednesday’s episode featured the reveal of a mysterious character played by actress Sophia di Martino. While many fans were quick to theorize the identity of this character, the Spanish language credits for the episode may hint that she’s not who they think she is.
So far in the series, 2012AvengerseraLoki (Tom Hiddleston)used the Tesseract to escape his capture but found himself in the hands of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic agency charged with protecting the sacred timeline and dealing with any unplanned variants, such as the God of Mischief. Turns out another Loki variant has been causing havoc in the multiverse, jumping through time and space and killing agents of the TVA. This leads to Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) recruiting 2012Avengersera Loki to help track down this other variant and stop him (or her) from achieving their mysterious goal.

Near the end of the second episode, Loki came face to face with this evil variant, or at least that’s what he thought. The mysterious character reveals themselves to be a blonde woman with a headband that looks a lot like God of Mischief’s signature horns. Now, fans were quick to theorize that this was “Lady Loki,” a character featured in the comics when the God of Mischief assumed the form of a woman. This theory has been floated for a while now, even before the show aired, as the character has appeared in the comics and the series has confirmed thatLoki’s gender is indeed fluid. However, as one fan on Twitter pointed out, the Spanish language credits may hint at the true identity of this character, and it ain’t lady Loki.
Twitter user @ashelynx22 posted a screenshot from the Spanish language credits, which appears to name the character portrayed by di Martino as Sylvie. While it’s unconfirmed at this time, this may imply that the supposed variant that Loki and Mobius have been chasing is actually the Marvel Comics character Enchantress (Not to be confused withthe DC comics version of Enchantress). In the comics, Enchantress is the alter ego of Sylvie Rushton, an average girl from Oklahoma who develops superpowers after some Asgardians moved into her hometown. However, it turns out that those powers were actually given to her by the God of Mischief himself, and that her entire existence may be the work of the trickster god. It is later revealed that, according to Loki, he “liked the idea of creating a mortal who suspects she’s one of my kind.”
So if this is Enchantress, it still might mean that there is a variant Loki on the loose, creating sorcerers for some reason. This may also explain why they found Sylvie at a superstore in Alabama, perhaps this is where the character is originally from, similar to her Oklahoma origins in the comics. It should also be noted that in the comics, Enchantress is not always portrayed as a villain. She has been a member of the Avengers and a version ofthe Young Avengers, and frankly, the more we see of the TVA, the more they seem like the bad guys. Either way,Lokiis slowly peeling back the layers of this mystery, and it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out going forward. Even if the character played by di Martino isn’t Lady Loki, there’s no reason that character can’t still appear in the show.
There’s definitely a lot more going on than we think, perhaps a variant of the God of Mischief is behind all of this, including the convoluted existence of the TVA itself. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens on the next episode ofLoki.
