Itemization is often considered one of the most divisive aspects ofDiablo 4, and now players are calling out Blizzard to make changes to the reroll system. InDiablo 4, rerolling item stats is done through the Enchanting feature that is accessible via the Occultist NPC, and it’s crucial to how players can maximize their build, especially as they progress closer to the endgame. However, as it currently stands, the system isn’t working as well as some players might expect it would.

As in the previous games, synergizing skills and items is one way to achieve aneffective character build inDiablo 4. However, sometimes items don’t come with the expected affixes or stats that players want, and this is where the Enchanting feature comes in, as it allows players to fine-tune their preciously rare item. Blizzard first introduced the feature inDiablo 3: Reaper of Souls, and now it’s making a comeback inDiablo 4, albeit in a slightly different and inferior shape.

As pointed out by Satokibi on theDiablo 4subreddit, thereroll system inDiablo 4doesn’t really give enough information to players about what possible affixes they might get when rerolling. It just shows some available options that players can select as a replacement. In comparison, the reroll system inDiablo 3gives players the possible affixes that are available based on the affix they are replacing, as well as the possible ranges for each of the affix.

With the game in its current form,Diablo 4players are always kept in the dark about what they can expect to get when Enchanting an item. With so many affixes available, it can take a while until players roll the intended affix. Even then, players would not know if the affix is well-valued or not as the game doesn’t provide the possible range for it. This is made even worse givenhow expensive Enchanting inDiablo 4is, as players can easily lose millions of gold during their short visit to the Occultist.

AsDiablo 4is already primed for its first seasonal update in mid to late July, there’s a very slim chance that Blizzard is going to make changes to the reroll system. Luckily, Blizzard has shown that it would roll outsignificant quality-of-life changes toDiablo 4through quick patches instead of waiting for the seasonal update. Hopefully, the reroll system might get adjusted somewhere down the road.

Diablo 4is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
