ManyDestiny 2players are enjoying the Festival of the Lost, working hard to unlock all of the treats Bungie has made available for hardworking Guardians. If players do enough, they are rewarded with a special item called the Ascendant Lens, but the problem is no one knows what to do with it. There is some speculation, but no concrete answers so far.

Players who wish to obtain the Ascendant Lens will have to put in the time and effort–and there’s alotof effort required. They will need to gather 45 Cipher Decoders, which means many hours spent in the Haunted Forest to grind for them. This may be expedited if players make use of a recently discoveredcheese for farming ciphers decoders, however. If a player does manage to collect them all, then Spider will hand them the Ascendant Lens. What is does is a complete mystery.

The item can be found in a new section called Collectibles and is described as “A focusing lens from the Dreaming City through which the Ascendant Plan can sometimes be seen…” This has led some to believe it will have a use in the Dreaming City, but those who have explored its halls haven’t found anything. Its home in the new Collectibles section may also signify that is merely a trophy that players can look at and be proud of. Whether it will be of some use in the future has yet to be seen, but if it has a purpose, be sure that there are diligentDestiny 2players that will find it.

There’s still plenty of time to experience all of theFestival of the Lost activities, as the event will last until November 3. Once it ends, players will be aching for new content, but thankfully more is on the way soon. The next expansion,Beyond Light, will be arriving on November 10. It will see the return of some familiar faces, such as the Exo Stranger from the originalDestinyand Variks from theHouse of Wolvesexpansion. The expansion’s latest trailer shows off new Exotic armor and weapons but may have alsorevealed a new Vex enemythat players will face.

The expansion marks one part of an ongoing effort by Bungie to keep building the world ofDestinyby committing to the main story of the series. The mysterious pyramid ships are still on their way andBeyond Lightwill be setting the stage for their arrival. This means even greater challenges for Guardians, but also agreater danger for the Traveler. A showdown is building between players and the Darkness. It may take a few expansions to get there, but rest assured, it’s coming.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
