Summary
Bungie has revealed that it will not be increasing the current power level cap inDestiny 2for Season 22, but plans to make the game a little more challenging. This level cap has remained unchanged since theDestiny 2Lightfall DLClaunched, and it seems Bungie plans to keep it that way for one more season.
Every season before Lightfall, players would need to hit a certain power level to be able to survive the game’s endgame activities like raids and Grand Master Nigthfalls. However, withDestiny 2Season of the Deep, Bungie experimented with a new system by keeping the pinnacle cap unchanged, which made the grind a little less tedious for players. The community welcomed this change, and owing to the same, Bungie has decided to keep the cap unchanged for Season 22 as well. However, while the grind will be substantially reduced, Bungie is looking to tweak the game’s difficulty to make the game more challenging for players.

In a recent blog post, Bungie mentioned that it received “a ton of positive feedback” on its decision to keep the power level unchanged in Season 21, which is the biggest reason it’s remaining untouched inDestiny 2Season 22 as well. However, Bungie also noted that power level requirements will still be noticeable in higher tier activities like Master raids, Grandmaster Nightfalls, Master Lost Sectors, and Trials of Osiris. Another reason Bungie decided to keep the power cap unchanged is that it didn’t want players to feel compelled to acquire pinnacles every week. However, it is also looking to “bring challenge back toDestiny” by adding more Battlegrounds to Vanguard Nightfalls and Grandmaster Nightfalls. Furthermore, it also promised to keep monitoring the feedback on the same, so it can make the necessary changes to the game’s difficulty going forward.
Leaving the power level cap untouched is something a lot of fans have appreciated considering it allows them to focus on the activities they actually want to play without having to grind for pinnacles. However, a rumor suggested thatDeep Dives inDestiny 2Season 21were a power level removal test, which Bungie is now continuing in Season 22. Leaks of Bungie doing away with power levels entirely first surfaced back in August 2022, but it never became a reality.
Apart from this,Destiny 2Season 22 is also adding new Strand aspectsand will also introduce revamped Exotics. Another exciting addition will be the Exotic mission rotation in Season 22, which will bring back sunset exotic missions the community had requested.
Destiny 2is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
