The latest community event forDestiny 2hasn’t been off to a great start, thanks in no small part to abug with the quest “The Lie"that promises to reward players with the Felwinter’s Lie shotgun. Fortunately, Bungie is aware of the issue with the quest and has promised that a fix is on the way within the next couple of days through a hotfix.
In the case of the bug in question that has been upsettingDestiny 2players for the last few days, the problem comes from an improper spawn happening after players have finished a specific step of the quest that accidentally sends them to speak to Eris Morn. Players hoped that theupdate Bungie released todaywould bring the fix with it, but it seems as though the bug has required enough extra attention to warrant its own, unscheduled update.

According to the Bungie’s support account on Twitter, Bungie Help, there will be some background maintenance being performed on May 20th in anticipation for the fix coming on the following day. This means that on May 21st, Hotfix 2.8.1.3 will be implemented to resolve the issue that players are currently facing with the bug withinthe Felwinter’s Lie quest. Once the hotfix is in place, players should be able to continue the quest without incident and finally complete the final mission in the quest and get their hands on the Felwinter’s Lie.
Fortunately, it doesn’t look like players should expect any downtime forDestiny 2while the hotfix is tested or implemented, meaning players can keep playing right up until the fix releases. While many players were worried that the fix tothe bugged “The Lie” questmight take longer, it seems that Bungie has taken the initiative to roll out a solution within a few days of the glitch’s appearance. This of course doesn’t confirm that every part past where the glitch has appeared will work perfectly, so caution may be the best course of action when attempting to complete the quest.
This latest glitch has come at an unfortunate time for both Bungie andDestiny 2, as the quest had already caused enough negative feedback for theSeraph Tower step to be nerfedin order to make acquiring the weapon easier. Piling the unwelcome reception of the quest on top of the overall decline that has come with Season of the Worthy and the game will really need to bring in something impressive for the next season to bring players back. For now at least, community events and public activities like the Seraph Tower just aren’t enough to repopulate the player base at the moment.
