From Software has rebound themselves since the average reception ofNinja Blade, and have established themselves as the king of dungeon crawler RPGs. Souls games are probably the most infamous part of the seventh and eighth generation. Some may call these games very hard, while others simply love that about them. But whatever the case may be, it is clear that the series is famous for its uniqueness and lore.

Fans have always wondered what a next-gen Souls game will be? And we have the answer now, the ninth generation is kicking off withDemon’s SoulsRemake. Which brings the question, is it the right choice? Or should it have beenDark Souls 4instead?
10Something New (Why Dark Souls 4)
Here is the thing, Souls series is probably very unique in itself. Each time a new game is released, it brings a lot ofnew additions.
A person who has playedDark Soulswill understandDark Souls III, but will also discover so many new things that the entire experience will be completely different, what it means it thatDark Souls IVwould have been a completely new experience, which is undoubtedly a good thing for fans of the series.

9Nostalgia (Why The Remake)
But countering the above argument, nostalgia is probably one of the biggest emotional drives a person can feel.Demon’s Soulswas first released in Feb 2009, which means it is over a decade old. A lot of gamers have not played the game, but to the ones who have played, the Remake will be a time travel to the past days.
This will make it not only a good game but also something with a very high emotional value. A lot of fans have made videos about the Remake, and this feeling is described correctly in their reactions.

8Profit (Why Dark Souls 4)
There is no doubt thatDark Soulsis the more popular game series by From Software. Not to say they have not released other amazing games, but on a popularity scale,Dark Soulsis probably their flagship. So releasing aDark Soulsgame means more hype and more fan engagement.
Being the fourth game in the series,Dark Souls IVwould’ve pulled all the fans of the series and made them lean into buying it. As the first title of the ninth generation,Dark Souls IVwould’ve proven quickly financially successful.

7Environments (Why The Remake)
If there is one thing thatDemon’s SoulsRemake does is it gives the most ambient environments in Souls games another life.Demon’s Soulsis an open book of spine-chilling concepts by Hidetaka Miyazaki. It is the first game in the series and has a lot of artistic ideas that wouldn’t be in the other games.

On top, the game has one of the best ambient environments in the series, which is why a remake completely fits the bill. It gives players and fans a chance to witness the artistic brilliance of Miyazaki in 4k.
6Progress (Why Dark Souls 4)
A lot of games spins the wheel of progress just for the sake of it. But theDark Soulsserieshave proven again and again that their progression is always for the better.
What this means is, while releasing aDemon’s Soulsremake to kick off the ninth generation is reasonably very good. It kind of goes against the motion. At the end of the day, aDemon’s Souls remakewill be the same game, with the same story and lore, which most of the fans know.Dark Souls IV, on the other hand, drives the whole franchise forward.

5The Punch (Why The Remake)
The Souls series have some rare cinematic moments that should be witnessed by every fan, which is why the first of these moments deserve to be on the plate.
TheDemon’s Soulstutorial is very similar to other Souls games. The players are thrown into a scary location and make their way through undead and enemies while discovering controls. These enemies are natural to handle, but then comes a boss who kills the players. At the beginning of theDemon’s Souls,if players manage to beat the tutorial boss, they will still die in one of the most cinematic and funny moments in series. Getting hit by the one punch dragon god.

4Potentially Seamless Multiplayer (Why Dark Souls 4)
The world ofDark Soulsis as artistic as it gets but is separated by a few load screens. However it seems, this won’t be the case with upcoming games. The most significant selling point of the ninth generation of consoles is the fact that they use an SSD as a standard.
This means many games will load in a blink of an eye or probably opt for seamless no-loading gameplay experience. All of this would’ve impacted the entirety ofDark Souls IV.The game would be completely transparent, and loading time in themultiplayerwould virtually disappear. Just imagine how unique an individually craftedmultiplayer experiencewould’ve been.

3Where It Started (Why The Remake)
The most significant selling point ofDemon’s Souls Remakeis it takes every player back to how the franchise started. The initial release of the game was met with critical acclaim. The game is rated 8.8 by fans on Metacritic to this date. Which means it is already a must-play game. But here is another view,Demon’s Soulshad sold less than 2 million copies, which is super low in comparison to the 25 million copies sold ofDark Souls.

Despite the sales,Demon’s Soulsis just as artistic and creative and deserves to be played by more players. Maybe with the popularity of souls series,Demon’s Souls Remakewill sell much better this time and probably be responsible for moving PS5 off shelves.
2Exclusivity (Why Dark Souls 4)
Why aDark Souls IVrelease would’ve made more sense is the Exclusivity ofDemon’s Souls. As of now, the Remake is a Playstation 5 exclusive title. Very similar to the original game, and it makes sense marketing-wise. But from a fan’s perspective, it means buying the whole console.
Dark Souls IVwould have been another case entirely, as it is a multi-platform release. Which means it would’ve released on PC, Xbox Series X, and Playstation 5. Bringing all the players under one roof, and letting them enjoy the game on the platform they own.

1Separate Developer (Why The Remake)
Here is the biggest reason why aDemon’s SoulsRemakeis a good idea. It has a separate developer. By now, everybody knows thatBluepoint Gamesare creating the Remake. This is the same developer team responsible for theShadow Of The Colossus Remake.
Firstly, their previous Remake is justified, true to original, and simply excellent. This means that theDemon’s Souls Remakeis going to be as good as it gets. Secondly, it means thatFrom Softwareis free to work on other new games likeElden RingorDark Souls IV. Both of these are genuine reasons to be happy as a Souls fan.
