Summary
Powers forDead by Daylight’s highly anticipated Killer,Alien’s own Xenomorph, have been shared online by Behaviour Interactive. Since the dayDead by Daylightlaunched in 2016, fans have requested the inclusion of a Xenomorph Killer as much or more than any other potential horror movie crossover. That hope is becoming a reality, with theAliencrossover inDead by Daylightstarting on August 29. Now Behaviour just has to deliver a compelling Xenomorph gameplay experience.
The xenomorphs from theAlienseries of horror and action movies are some of the most iconic monsters in film. TheoriginalAlienfilm, released in 1979, is frequently referenced as one of the best horror movies ever made. Alone in the vastness of space, a crew of spaceship truckers unknowingly brings a xenomorph onto the ship. The alien picks the crew off one by one, with protagonist Ellen Ripley left as the only survivor. FutureAlienfilms would throw hordes of xenomorphs at the protagonists, but that originalAlienfilm captured a sense of horror that has yet to be recreated.

Dead by Daylightis now seeking to create its own xenomorph horror experience. The Killer Power of the Xenomorph is fitting and frightening. Every map will have its own set of tunnels and seven Control Stations that activate when the Xenomorph is being used. The Xenomorph can access the tunnels via Control Stations, detect nearby Survivors, and trigger Killer Instinct on Survivors nearby when it exits a Control Station. Survivors can expect the Xenomorph to pop out when they least expect it, though they can watch the Control Stations so they know where it’s coming from.
Traveling through tunnels also speeds up the Xenomorph’s Runner Mode special ability, which is automatically activated when not on cooldown. Runner Mode makes the Xenomorph stealthier, and also grants access to a powerful Tail Attack. TheXenomorph Killerwill be added alongside a fullAliencrossover event on August 29. But the Killer is already in testing onDead by Daylight’s servers. That means that the Xenomorph’s powers and perks have already been unveiled.
Perks for the Xenomorph fit theAlienmonster’s lore. Rapid Brutality removes Bloodlust, but grants 5% haste after a basic attack. Alien Instinct is activated after hooking a Survivor and reveals the aura of the farthest injured survivor, who is also made oblivious for an extended time. Lastly, Ultimate Weapon activates upon opening a locker, and makes Survivors scream, go Blind, and reveal their position when entering the Xenomorph’s Terror Radius.
Recapturing the feeling ofAlien, with the Xenomorph traveling through the spaceship’s ducts and bursting out to attack each crewmate, seems to beBehaviour’s goal with the beloved Killer. Obviously, the Xenomorph can’t be recreated perfectly inDead by Daylight. It’s a game with strict rules, after all. But these powers will hopefully make the Xenomorph fun, frightening, and authentic.Dead by Daylightplayers can try the new Killer out starting August 29.
PTB begins: August 8th, 11AM ET
Killer Power
Hidden Pursuit
A series of tunnels become available on the map when the Xenomorph is in play. By accessing a Control Station, it can enter these tunnels to quickly move around the map, detect the presence of nearby Survivors, and speed up the cooldown time of its Runner Mode ability. Exiting a Control Station tags nearby Survivors with Killer Instinct.
Special Ability: Runner Mode
The Xenomorph enters Runner Mode automatically when not on cooldown. In Runner Mode, the Xenomorph walks on four legs and becomes stealthier, reducing its Terror Radius. While in Runner Mode the Xenomorph also has access to a brutal Tail Attack.
Map Feature: Control Stations
Seven Control Stations are scattered across the map. Survivors can interact with these stations to get a Remote Flame Turret, while the Xenomorph can enter and exit the tunnels underneath the Control Stations.
Special Item: Remote Flame Turret
Turrets can be placed in the map to counteract the Xenomorph. When the Xenomorph enters the radius and line of sight of a Turret, the Turret attacks; this attack staggers the Xenomorph and will cause Runner Mode to end. If a Turret successfully knocks the Xenomorph out of Runner Mode or fires for too long, it overheats, and must be repaired by a Survivor. The Xenomorph can attack Turrets to destroy them.
