After almost six years,Dead by Daylightis still one of the biggest online horror games going, especially for those who stream their matches. With theRingu"Sadako Rising" DLC available soon, the IP is as popular as ever. While the studio continues to work on the game, adding well-known, and unique, monsters and characters to the world, there is one thing that Behaviour Interactive’s creative director, David Richard, has said he’d like to do in a future update.

In a recent interview with Newsweek, Richard spoke about the upcomingDead by Daylightchapter, directly acknowledging that the new update specifically caters to the original Japanese horror from 1999, and not the American adaptation from the early 2000s. On top of this, he also said that he would be interested in doing a crossover with the asymmetrical multiplayer game and the work of famed horror author Stephen King, adding that he was a big fan of the “universe and the villains from his books.” Whether this will happen or not is another thing entirely.

It’s understandable that he would want to include Stephen King’s work inDead by Daylight. Given his reputation as one of the most renowned horror writers in the world,Stephen King is no stranger to video games, being a source of inspiration for the likes ofAlan Wake. It’s true that his novels have a lot of potential that could be explored in other ways, and to have someone like Pennywise as a villain inDBDor players running away fromThe Shining’s Jack Torrance is something that many fans would undoubtedly be excited about. But again, Richard dreaming about it does not necessarily mean it will happen.

Dead by Daylightis known for its crossovers. WithDead by Daylightrecently announcing someSawcontent, it seems the developer has hit upon a veritable goldmine of horror potential, able to pull in creatures and monsters from a myriad of franchises from the world of movies and games that keep fans coming back for more.

Asone of the best multiplayer horror games going, there’s no denying that it’s become something of a phenomenon since it was released back in 2016. There are a lot of franchises out there that could inspire the next update, and while Richard collaborating with Stephen King’s work would be a dream come true for him, there will be other horror monsters and characters that can be added to keep the game going for a while longer.
