Even being one of the biggest video game launches of 2020,Cyberpunk 2077has been plagued with a wide array of issues since its release. While the console versions have seen numerous technical and performance issues, the PC version hides its own set of problems. The most recent and severe issue being the corrupted save file.
Earlier this week, manyCyberpunk 2077PC players reported that their save files are being corruptedafter they exploited the duplication glitch to craft a lot of items. GOG.com, the PC digital distribution platform owned by CD Projekt RED, replied to a FAQ in regards to this issue saying that the save file is damaged and players should load an earlier save file if possible. They further advised players to keep a lower amount of items and crafting materials in the game and to not use the duplication glitch. While there isn’t a specific reason for why this was occurring, some users believed it happened only when the save file was over 8MB in size.

Fortunately, CD Projekt has addressed and fixed this issue in its latest hotfix that dropped today. According to the Hotfix 1.06 patch note, the 8MB save file size has been removed though it won’t fix the saves corrupted before the update. Aside from this, the hotfix alsoimproves memory management and stability on consoles, which will result in fewer crashes. It also fixes the quest “Second Conflict,” in which Dum Dum will no longer go missing from Totentaz.

Cyberpunk 2077launch debacle reached new heights when the game was pulled off from the PlayStation store earlier this month. While CDPR has addressed the situation and reassured fans that they are working hard to bringCyberpunk 2077back to the PlayStation store, many believe that the gamewon’t be fixed anytime soon. However, the numerous hotfixes that have been deployed confirm that the company would go to any length to gain back the trust it has seemingly lost.
Cyberpunk 2077is now available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, with a free PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade coming in 2021.
