Crysis Remasteredwill finally be released for consoles and PC later in September after it was delayed to allow more time for polishing. Initial trailers for the game left fans skeptical about the quality of the remaster, as it didn’t seem to live up to the hardware breaking standards of the original. ButCrysis Remasteredhas been well-received on its Nintendo Switch editionand now, with console and PC versions only a week away, Crytek is teasing what extra features players can expect from the game.
WhenCrysiswas released in 2007 it spurned the meme “can it runCrysis?”, which was a nod to the insane amount of processing power PC’s needed in order to playCrysisat optimal settings. Those players who could runCrysisknew that it was a benchmark for realistic graphics in a first-person shooter at the time. This is part of the reason why theexpectations forCrysis Remasteredare so high, as players expect the same level of hardware-breaking standards as the original.

In a nod to the game’s most famous meme, theCrysisTwitter account has revealed one of the new graphics settingsCrysis Remasteredwill be utilizing, titled ‘Can it Run Crysis?’ mode. The new graphics mode, which is exclusive to PC, is designed to demand every last bit of a player’s hardware with unlimited settings. A screenshot taken while using ‘Can it Run Crysis?’ mode was also shared, which shows the Lingshan Islands in stunning detail and resolution.
This is the latest announcement in a lineup of new features Crytek has announced in an attempt to curb fan concerns over the remaster. Recently, the studio released an 8K screenshot of Nomad from the game, hinting at the levels of visual spectacle players can expect. It was also revealed thatXbox versions ofCrysis Remasteredwill feature multiple visual modes to make the most of the Xbox One’s processing power. It’s possible that a teaser for some of the PS4’sCrysis Remasteredfeatures will be revealed in the lead up to the game’s release in order to cover all of the release platforms.
Last week, Crytek released thePC system requirements forCrysis Remastered, which ended up being far more reasonable than the high standards of the original. That being said the game is still set to make use of the latest technology such as 4K graphics and ray-tracing. Along with the addition of ‘Can it Run Crysis?’ mode,Crysis Remasteredlooks set to test the limits of this generation of hardware.
