Given that this is the first time that fans will be able to play the action RPG outside its original release on the PlayStation Portable, the game’s community was likely very excited to try out the remaster. The description of the mod itself does not provide much information. However, it does say that the mod will replace Zack with Cloud wielding the iconicFinal Fantasy 7Buster Swordduring “non-cutscene instances.” On Twitter and YouTube, user Ninjagrime uploaded videos that showcased the mod implemented into their game, allowing interested players to see what has changed when the mod is applied.
Ninjagrime’s YouTube video showed off Narknon’s mod while going throughbattles inCrisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. The mod seems to work just fine, though it may seem awkward for fans to hear Zack’s usual cheerful words being shouted by the stoic face ofFF7 Remake’s Cloud. However, Ninjagrime did share a funny clip of the mod sort of glitching out on Twitter. In the Twitter clip, the mod made Cloud look exaggeratedly wide-eyed during a specific cutscene.
Nevertheless, Narknon’s mod is definitely something that fans of the originalFinal Fantasy 7would likely want to use while playing the remastered prequel. Though it would be interesting to see mods of otherFF7characters inCrisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, fans should be careful of what they implement into their games. Mods are unofficial and may lead to glitches or issues when used, so players should proceed with caution.
