Capcom has confirmed that all invitations forStreet Fighter 6’s upcoming closed beta test have been issued. This summer’sStreet Fighter 6announcements have built up a lot of excitement for the fighting game sequel. Many fans have been hoping the recently announced closed beta test would be their first opportunity to tryStreet Fighter 6for themselves. However, limited availability for the relatively small closed beta test will be leaving manyStreet Fighterfans waiting for another opportunity to play.TheStreet Fighter 6closed beta test is currently planned to begin on October 7 and will run through October 10. The beta test will feature a robust selection of game modes to try, including Casual Match, Ranked Match,Battle Hub Match, Open Tournament, Extreme Battle, and Game Center Training Mode options. The beta will be supported across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and will have full cross-play between all platforms enabled. There are no further invitations going out for theStreet Fighter 6closed beta test for the time being. While it’s not impossible that Capcom could change its mind due to such overwhelming demand, that seems unlikely. There will almost certainly be further beta tests down the road, however.Street Fighterfanswill just have to be patient if they want another chance to playStreet Fighter 6before launch.
It’s not all bad news for those who weren’t invited to theStreet Fighter 6closed beta. While the beta won’t be playable to those who weren’t invited, Capcom is allowing those who were invited to stream and upload videos featuring gameplay from the beta. There should be moreStreet Fighter 6content available online for fans to peruse than ever before during and after the beta.
Based on what Capcom’s announced so far,Street Fighter 6will be the most robustly-supported online experience in theStreet Fighterfranchiseyet. To ensure the game is ready for launch, especially considering how popular the game seems to be already, Capcom needs to do testing of its server infrastructure. The closed beta will offer that opportunity. Capcom likely isn’t ready for stress tests, though, so limited availability is necessary. That’s going to be painful in the short term, but it should mean a better game in the long term if fans can be patient.
