Call of Duty: Modern Warfarerecently added the fan favoriteMW2map Rust to the game. There’s a spot at the top of the map that’s a favorite of campers, who like to stay there and shoot at enemies running around on the map below. OneCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayer rushed up to the top of the Rust map to confront one such camper, but ended up getting killed for their troubles in a rather ridiculous-looking way.
This Rust camper inCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewas in the middle of using a killstreak, which left them vulnerable to Reddit user dodzwardo. When dodzwardo attempts to perform one ofModern Warfare’s melee executionson them, however, things don’t necessarily go as planned. The melee execution ends because a sniper on the other team takes out dodzwardo and the animation cancels out in an awkward way.

This is far from the first time that we’ve seen aCall of Duty: Modern Warfaremelee execution go haywire. There actually appears to be aModern Warfaremelee execution bugthat cancels it out for the player performing the move, and lets the potential victim have an unfair advantage. It’s unclear what exactly causes this to happen, though many of the clips show players that are standing right next to walls in the game.
The specific melee execution animations may also play a role in determining when they actually work or not. For example, there was one famous clip ofGhost’s melee executioncausing the player doing the move to fall off the roof of a building and to their death.
It remains to be seen howInfinity Wardwill fix the melee execution issues that occasionally plagueCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. It seems most players are able to perform them without running into any major issues, so it may not be as pressing of a concern as other matters.
After all, Infinity Ward is currently busy creating new content to add to the game as part ofModern Warfare’s Season 2. This includes new maps, modes, guns, and more, plus the probable addition of the long-awaitedWarzone battle royale mode. While some fans may prefer Infinity Ward fix issues like this first, others would rather the studio focus on producing new content for the game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
