TheCall of Dutyfranchise has had many iconic characters over the last two decades, ranging fromBlack Ops' Woods and Mason, toCall of Duty2’s original version of Captain Price. But noCall of Dutycharacters are quite as iconic asTask Force 141, the central protagonists of both the original and rebootedModern Warfareseries. And Infinity Ward knows just how beloved these characters are, with it continuing to add Operator skins based on them inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer.

Though some members have come and again across the series,Modern Warfare’s Task Force 141 team is filled with iconic faces, from its mustachioed leaderCaptain John Price, to its skull-face mask-wearing member Ghost to the unashamedly Scottish Soap MacTavish. But there’s oneModern Warfareprotagonist that didn’t quite make the cut for Task Force 141, and it’s about time he received that honor inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Next Operator Should be Alex

First introduced in2019’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, Alex Keller is a special operative in the CIA, and one of the game’s main playable protagonists. As Alex, players help the Urzikstani Liberation Force to push back their Russian oppressors, who the CIA believes have taken biochemical weapons. Over the course ofModern Warfare’s campaign, Alex becomes disillusioned with the CIA and decides to join the ULF full-time, assisting its leader, Farah, in taking back her homeland. At the end ofModern Warfare’s campaign, Alex and the rest of the team corner the Russian leader Barkov in his hidden chemical plant, and Alex sacrifices himself to destroy the facility.

But that’snot the end of Alex Keller’s story.Call of Duty: Warzone’s story revealed that Alex survived the blast, though he did lose a leg in the explosion. Despite his disability, Alex still assisted Task Force 141 on the field at Verdansk, putting an end to Victor Zakhaev’s plans of nuclear domination. For the last few years, Alex’s whereabouts have been unknown, with the character not showing up duringCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign, but thanks to the recentAtomgradRaid Episode 2, fans have been treated to another return of the character.

After finding an old Soviet-era nuclear warhead in the possession of the terrorist cell Al-Qatala, Task Force 141 is dispatched to recover it, following closely behind a ULF group led by Alex. At the top of the missile silo, they find Alex trapped behind a door, and his team dead. He tellsFarah that Al-Qatala’s leaderspared him so that he could send a message to directly to her from their new leader, her brother Hadir, who is now in possession of the nuclear warhead.

With the wayCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s second Raid wraps up, it seems very likely that Alex will appear again in the near future, and it would make complete sense for Infinity Ward to add him as a playable Operator next Season. SinceModern Warfare 2’s launch, Infinity Ward has been gradually adding campaign characters to the game’s playable Operator roster. The latest Season’s Battle Pass brought Vargas and Valeria to the game, rounding out just about every iconic character fromModern Warfare 2’s campaign. And with Alex making his triumphant return, it only makes sense for him to be added next. Adding Alex as a playable Operator would kill three birds with one stone, giving fans an opportunity to play as a beloved character, informing fans that haven’t played the Raid that Alex is back, and earning Infinity Ward and Activision some money in the process

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
