ACall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2player has posted an idea online that could potentially make riot shields much less annoying to deal with. Riot shields are notorious for being one of the most irritating elements ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Players ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2have been widely enjoying Infinity Ward’s latest offering in the franchise. The game faced the weight of expectations of 2019’s successfulCall of Duty: Modern Warfarereboot, but players do seem to be praising the game. While Infinity Ward can never please everyone,Season 2 ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2has gone a long way to provide an influx of new content to the game with new game modes and weapons to freshen up the experience. As this player shows, it’s not all perfect, with riot shields still frustrating players.

The idea to fix riot shields came from Redditor KaraTheAndroidd, who posted a diagram of the concept online after they noticed the feature inThe Division 2. The theory is that when a player doesn’t have the riot shield equipped, it would fold up on their back, exposing their legs and making them easier to hurt. It would also help eliminate turtling, where players lie down with the riot shield on their back, making them next to impossible to kill. The proposed idea would make no change if the player had the riot shield equipped, with the size remaining the same in that scenario.Riot shields have already been nerfed inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but many players believe there’s still a way to go until it’s fully balanced.

While most people in the thread supported the idea, others proposed simply removing the riot shield from the game. But with the riot shield featuring in many titles since its debut in 2009’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it’s unlikely to be going anywhere anytime soon. One recent glitch allowedCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2players to equip two riot shields. This sounds like many gamers' worst nightmare come to life, with enough players already struggling to deal with the one.

It looks as though players may have to deal with riot shields for some time to come yet, with the ongoing rumors thatCall of Duty 2023will be a continuation of theModern Warfareseries. WithCall of Dutygames usually getting their full reveal around June, players still face a small wait to discover whether those plans will come to fruition. However, with the success of the rebootedModern Warfareseries, it would be no surprise to see Activision look to continue it as early as possible.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
