Over the years,Call of Dutyhas experimented with various genres that have done exceptionally well, the best example beingCall of Duty Warzone. And while most of these new features cater to the PVP fanbase, some are aimed toward PVE players,like the Spec Ops game mode.

NowCall of Duty:Modern Warfare 2has expanded the PVE game modes with the addition of Raids, which shares similar features to Spec Ops. But, Raids are more than a PVE playground since players must also solve puzzles to complete them. And theAtomgrad RaidinCall of Duty MW2is chock-full of puzzles and enemies that will challenge newcomers and veterans alike.
Players can only start a Raid if they have aRaid Keyand are in apremade partyof three players (there’s no matchmaking). Additionally, Raids are only available for players that ownCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Before jumping into the Atomgrad Raid, players will have to choose a Spec Ops Tier Kit (Assault, Medic, or Recon). Players can level up Spec Ops Tier Kits by completing Spec Op missions,like Denied Area. For the Atomgrad Raid, players will want to have either the Assault or Medic Kits since they provide valuable bonuses for the entire team.
For example, Tier 1 of the Assault Kit lets players start with an Armor Box, while Tier 1 of the Medic Kit doubles revive speed andunlocks the Revive Pistol(the same one used inWarzone 2). Once inside the Atomgrad Raid, players should try to be stealthy by using suppressed weapons.
Objective One: Open Submarine Doors
Afterreuniting with Farah, Gaz, and Captain Price, players will find themselves inside an underground compound dubbed Atomgrad. The 1st Objective players are tasked with is unlocking the doors of a Submarine, but before reaching that point, players will have to face several AQ enemies.
In this first area, players will come up againstNormal and Armored AQ units. Players should strive to keep a low profile and go for suppressed kills since it’ll prevent reinforcement from spawning. But, if all hell lets loose, players should use cover or momentarily conceal themselves underwater.
Additionally, some corners are rigged with Claymores, so players should check their corners carefully before moving forward.
Once players enter the Control Room, they’ll notice an electronic red sign with Russian letters, each one corresponding to a number. Players must use the CCTV Cameras (on the right of the red sign) and look for a video feed with more Russian letters. Players should write down the number corresponding to one of the letters on the red sign.
To figure out the remaining two numbers, players must enter the room with the metal shutter. Communication is vital for this step (as it is forCall of Duty Warzone 2) since one player has to hold open the door by pressing the red button while another enters the room. Once inside, players must look through the CCTV Cameras again and find the final two numbers.
With all three numbers, players should use the large green computer to input the number sequence. The other two players must repeat these steps (the same player can’t input the odes) and input the codes they uncover.
Players should be aware that sometimes four Russian letters will appear, but that doesn’t matter as long as players input the first three numbers correctly. Upon entering the final code sequence, a door will open in front of the Control Room.
Objective Two: Find a Way Through the Flooded Area
Players should grab the Oxygen Tank on the table since it’ll be the only thing keeping the whole team alive. Players will have to share the Oxygen Tank throughout this underwater section (this area is similar to several POIs inWarzone 2). Furthermore, there will be Safe Areas where players will spawn if they die (if the player with the Oxygen Tank dies, then the whole team has to restart from the last checkpoint).
As players progress through the area, they’ll reach a gated door that requires one player to open it by holding down a red button (similar to the Control Room). After passing this point, players will reach a Safe Area with a suppressed pistol.
After leaving the Safe Area, players will come across several explosive traps. Players can swim past the explosives carefully, or one player (not the one with the Oxygen Tank) can sacrifice themselves since they’ll respawn at the Safe Area. After passing these traps, players will come across a hole (with another explosive trap).
After swimming through the hole, players will reach another Safe Area. Players should continue swimming through the tunnels, following the arrows. Eventually, players will reach a new area (still underwater) with another puzzle.
This puzzle is fairly easy but requires teamwork and perhaps somewell-placed and colorful pings.
Objective Three: Clear Armory
Players will reach another Safe Area with loads of weapons and lethal/tactical equipment. Players should suit up before moving on since the following area will be full of AQ enemies. Players will find the FSS Hurricane or the Minibak in this room, which aretop-tier SMGs inCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2multiplayer.
Players must clear every room in the Atomgrad Armory before proceeding to the next Objective. There will be dozens of Normal and Armored AQ Soldiers hiding in each room, so players should play it safe. And on top of that, there will be two AQ Juggernauts, which may require careful maneuvering. Upon eliminating all AQ enemies, players can go down a hole inside a green-lit room.
Objective Four: Move Through the Vents and Investigate Flooded Area
Players should make their way through the vents until they reach an area with pipes and an incline at the end of the tunnel.

At the end of that incline, players will find a hole they must jump into. This leads them to a new area that has two computers that must be activated. Each computer is heavily guarded with Armored AQ Soldiers and Juggernauts, so players shouldn’t go in guns blazing. Once cleared, players should activate the computers.
One player should activate the Receiver Computer located in the middle of the area while the other two spread out between the two computer rooms. Upon activation, players will see another sequence of Russian letters.
Players will now have to decipher the Russian letters, similar to the 1st Atomgrad puzzle (the only difference is the 40-second timer that resets the entire sequence). On top of that, there will be waves of Bomb Drones (a very powerful killstreak) which will make the puzzle a lot more challenging. Each player in the squad will have to input a different set of codes, so these steps must be done three times.
Objective Five: Wait for Blast Doors to Open
The final Objective in the Atomgrad Raid is to survive for four minutes until the blast doors open. Throughout this entire section, AQ Soldiers (Normal and Armored), Bomb Drones, and Juggernauts will spawn. Once the timer ends, players will have to clear out any remaining enemies and then can proceed through the blast door. Then players will watch a cutscene and receive one of seven random rewards, thus completing theAtomgrad Raid forCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
