The need to replayDestiny 2’s campaigns on multiple characters has been a consistent complaint among many in the game’s community, and Bungie is going to address it with new character boosts players can pay for coming inLightfall. Players have been able to purchase character boosts since the Spark of Light boost inForsakenand have subsequently undergone some changes since then to its current version, which can boost players up to 1510 power level, slightly aboveThe Witch Queen’s soft cap of 1500. Along with the various other changes coming inLightfall, character boosting will get a refresh with two new options to purchase after players reach one of two requirements for the boost.
Lightfallis set to bring numerous changes and new features toDestiny 2, coinciding with the arrival of The Witness and the full might of its Black Fleet to the Sol System. One of the most prominent additions will be the new Darkness subclass Strand, a subclass Bungie has described as granting guardians the ability to weave and manipulate the connective threads of the universe. Other features set to arrive inLightfallinclude the overhauled buildcrafting system, Guardian ranks, and commendations, along with the major sandbox update, which has been the norm for the release of expansions.

The refreshed character boosts can now be added to the list of new and refreshed features inside the newest expansion toDestiny 2. Bungie outlined these new character boosts in its latest This Week at Bungie post, the first being theLightfallCharacter Boost, while the second is dubbed theLightfallCampaign Skip Boost. The former will become available after reaching the soft cap on one character, while the latter only becomes available after completingLightfall’s campaign, and no price has been given as of this writing.
Both boosts will provide players with a set of “high Power level gear” to get their character up to the soft cap, shortening the overall level grind if players so desire. The campaign skip boosts will also skip the campaign, as its name states, and instantly unlockStrandif players don’t have the desire to replay the campaign on a different character. However, the campaign skip boost will not provide the rewards or Triumphs players can earn by playing the campaign.
Given what Bungie has teased for the campaign and the ability to play through it on Legendary, as inThe Witch Queen, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some players welcome the choice to skip over it on alternate characters. The only question is what the costs of the boosts will be, which, depending on the price point, could be a make or break for some players. Regardless, if the latestLightfallViDocis anything to go by, players may have some incentive to replay the campaign.
Destiny 2is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
