Despite a seemingly endless number of bugs and a limited amount of content, the Zombies offering ofCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warhas proven successful. While fans warmed up to the new mechanics of the mode quickly, one persistent issue inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies has been related to weapon XP.
While players recently discovered aWeapon XP exploit in Zombies, the trick requires lots of setup and does not allow players to enjoy a full match of the addictive survival mode. Currently, leveling up weapons in Zombies is a massive chore, with weapon leveling slowing down drastically in high rounds and being terribly slow in solo matches. As such, players have been forced to resort to exploits or playing modes that they do not actually want to play.

Thankfully, a fix for this massive Zombies issue is confirmed to be on the way. While making the rounds on the variousCall of Dutysubreddits,Treyarch community manager FoxhoundFPSreplied to a group of players discussing the low weapon XP rates. FoxhoundFPS shared that the Treyarch team has “identified an issue that was causing lower than intended weapon XP in both solo Zombies matches and later Zombies rounds.”
The news that Treyarch has found the problems and is “looking to release a fix for both of these as soon as possible” should come as a relief to Zombies players. Unfortunately, there is a bit of bad news, asBlack Ops Cold War’s Double XP weekwill not be extended despite the hopes of Zombies fans. While Treyarch has promised plenty more Double XP events going forward, it is a bit of a shame that Zombies players were not able to take full advantage of the current event.
Still, the fix being inbound should ensure every Double XP event going forward works properly, with normal XP earning rates being far more tolerable as well. It will be interesting to see if Treyarch nerfs the weapon XP exploit in Zombies or leaves it be, but XP earning rates being normalized should eliminate the need for such a trick anyway. WithotherCoDZombies glitchesnot related to XP being used by players as well, the game mode could be seeing some big changes in the next update.
As of now, the most reliable way forBlack Ops Cold Warplayers to earn weapon XPis in Fireteam Dirty Bomb. While the modes ridiculous weapon leveling does not help the players who only enjoy Zombies, those dabbling with all ofCall of Duty’s modes should make use of the mode while they can.
