Following the release ofBoruto: Naruto Next GenerationsChapter 80, it has been confirmed that the manga will be going on a three-month hiatus. Originally,V-Jumpmagazine’s June issue announced that the manga would return in the October issue. However, theViz Mediaapp stated that the manga would return in September. Once the manga does return, it will enter a new arc that will focus on Boruto’s next adventure. A time skip also seems to be on the cards.
This announcement comes shortly after the anime also went on a break. BothBorutoanime and manga have been heavily criticized, although for different reasons. The anime has released mostly filler content, which shows a lack of planning.Its predecessor,Naruto Shippuden, also suffered from the same issues. Due to the exorbitant amount of fillers,Naruto Shippudenreceived many negative reviews. If theBorutoanime goes down the same path, it will lose a lot of fans.

The manga, on the other hand, has been criticized because of its treatment of Naruto, Sasuke, and other members of the previous generation. Masashi Kishimoto has made many odd decisions that have affected these characters. The hiatus will give the author some much-needed time to reassess the story and make up his mind about the next step.
TheBorutomanga started serializing inShuiesha’s Weekly Shonen Jumpin May 2016, and it was moved toV-Jumpmagazine in 2019. The manga started with Kodachi as the writer, but he stepped down from his role in 2020. Masashi Kishimoto stepped up to fill the vacant position. So far, the manga has been compiled into 19 volumes.
The anime forBorutostarted airing in April 2017, and it continued to run until March 2023. After Part I of the anime reached its conclusion, it was confirmed that Part II of the series was already in the works. But they did not announce a return date for the anime. It would make sense for the series to take some time before returning, as the first part of the anime seemed really misguided.
