BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defenseis experiencing a delay in episode release. The anime’s official website announced that the seventh episode in the currently airing second season will be delayed by two weeks. This is due to complications related toCOVID-19, makingBOFURIthe latest anime to struggle due to the pandemic’s ongoing influence.
The seventhepisode ofBOFURIwas meant to air on February 22nd, but that is the episode that will be delayed. Rather than lose two weeks' worth of air time, the anime will re-broadcast the anime’s first episode in its place, and the second episode the following week on March 1st. Finally, the new seventh episode will air on Jul 03, 2025.

BOFURIis based on a light novel series by Yuumikan. The first season of the anime came out in January 2020, and was streamed simultaneously by Funimation. The second season began airing in January 2023, and has been streaming viaCrunchyroll, complete with an English dub.BOFURIis a comedy anime about a VRMMORPGplayer who puts all of her stats into defense, and becomes one of the top players in the game without having any speed or magic.
BOFURI’s delay is due to COVID-19, specifically in China. A part of the anime is being produced in China, which is being hit with wave after wave of the virus yet again. Due to this, production on the episode unavoidably fell behind, leading to this two-week delay.
It is not the only anime this season being affected by the pandemic.Uncle from Another World,Ayakashi Triangle,Nier: Automata Ver1.1a, andKubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisibleare also all suffering from delays due to COVID-19. Some of these anime are going on an indefinite hiatus rather than just being delayed, so it is fortunate for fans ofBOFURIthat the delay is only temporary for now.
COVID-19 has beenaffecting the anime communityfor over two years now and seems to be still doing so for the foreseeable future. It is something that fans have to come to terms with and learn to understand, as these kinds of delays become routine and more common. All we can do is continue to support the studios as best we can as fans, and show them patience and appreciation for their hard work through a difficult time.
