Collet-Serra went on to explain why he chose to removeHawkman’s comic book origin. “In the comics, there are clear references of like, ‘Hey, I saw you 5,000 years ago. You remember me?’ We’re not doing that…It would be too confusing.” The director, however, makes it clear that it doesn’t mean it’s out of the picture, “Obviously, Hawkman reincarnates, so how many times do you need to reincarnate and still remember? All these rules [are something] you don’t want to set until those characters are really established.”
Black Adamis a fan favorite anti-hero who is usually known for being in fights with characters such as Shazam and Superman, while mainly serving as Shazam’s primary antagonist. Fans have been waiting for this character’s appearance on the big screen for many years, and now the wait is almost over. Johnson has stated that Black Adam willpropel the future of the DCEU, but it remains to be seen how audiences will respond to the anti-hero’s live-action feature film debut.
It’s smart to establish a connection with Black Adam first before introducing him to the wider DC film universe.DC can no longer afford to make big promisesfor what’s to come. Right now, fans are being let down with all of the recent actions that have transpired off camera at Warner Bros. Discovery.
The most recent issue at hand is thecancellation of theBatgirlfilm. Many still want the film to see the light of day, regardless of it being removed from canon or not. It’s only right for those who spent all those long hours working on it, and it’s also right for those at home who wanted to see themselves represented by the hero on screen.
Black Adamis set for a October 21st, 2022, theatrical release date
