Summary
The Witcher 3community is still going strong after all these years, averaging more than 13,000 daily players according to SteamCharts. New and old players alike continue exploring the intricate world and story of the game, finding something new every time.
And of course, as time goes on, more amazing mods are created for the title. From quality-of-life improvements to minor tweaks to completely fresh content and ideas, there is no shortage of ways to change one’s experience with the game. Even such a critically-acclaimed game can be made better, or tweaked to fit a particular player’s preference. In this case, the following mods make the characters of the game better in one way or another.

1Characters Reworked Project
Endorsements - 1,043
The creators of this particular mod wanted to improve the textures for both the faces and the outfits of NPCs in the game, and have succeeded with flying colors. Especially with the latest version of the game, vanilla characters often stand out among the improved textures, and this mod is agreat way to bridge the gap.
Players should always be mindful when installing multiple texture mods, as certain files can overlap and create multiple issues. As always, it is best to carefully read the description of every installed mod, and follow the creators’ instructions.

2Realistic Eyes Fixed
Endorsements - 1,527
Eyes are often the focal point of a character, and it only makes sense to give them as much attention as the rest of the game. The creator of the mod has upscaled the eye textures for all characters into 2K and 4K resolutions, respectively.
Aside from that, the creator has also adjusted the colors for certain characters, using descriptions from the books. It is a great mod to improve the immersion and enhance every conversation with the myriad of characters that the game has to offer.

3Geralt Doppler
Endorsements - 3,312
While the story does revolve around Geralt, who says players can’t try their hands at playing as other characters? This mod allows just that, replacing Geralt’s model with a number of choices, allowing for anentirely new way to experience the game.
While the dialogue remains unchanged, and most of the animations remain Geralt’s, it is still quite the experience to delve into the swamp as one of the supporting cast, or even a completely new character. Players are free to create their own witchers, making the entire experience much more roleplay-heavy.

4New Hairstyles And Beards For Geralt
Endorsements - 3,656
While perhaps not very book-accurate, Geraltcanspend an incredible amount of time fleshing out his outfit and his looks. This mod simply expands the players’ options, allowing for much more customization when it comes to beards and hairstyles for the old witcher.
The mod adds more than30new options and does so in a way that does not remove or replace any of the old ones. It is a great mod for those who appreciate witcher fashion wars.

5Multi Companion Mod
Endorsements - 5,358
Companions are a staple of the RPG genre, and there are multiple instances in the vanilla game where Geralt is accompanied by one character or another. However, there is no such thing as permanent companions, as they usually only join the player for a quest or two.
With this mod, however, players are free to build their own roaming party, consisting of their favorite characters. Geralt might be a loner, but even he appreciates good company once in a while.

6Lore Friendly Ciri
Endorsements - 6,368
Ciri is an incredibly prominent character in both the game and the books, and it is not surprising that many wanted to blend the two. While the vanilla version is fairly true to her book description, the author of the mod wanted to make a few adjustments to push the resemblance even further.
From the color of the hair and eyes to a few facial features, the mod does look a touch more grounded, which is quite fair when it comes to book depictions.

7All NPC Scabbards
Endorsements - 13,481
Given just how many armed characters there are, it makes perfect sense for all of them to have a way to properly store their swords. Multiple enemies magically summoning their weapons out of thin air has rubbed many players the wrong way, and this mod does a great job of fixing that.
At the moment, the mod only covers sword sheaths, but the author has mentioned that they are working on expanding the list to axes, maces, and other weapons.

8Lore-Friendly Witchers
Endorsements - 15,061
Vanilla Geralt looks quite… healthy, which is not at all how he is described in the books, or even in some of the previous games. Witchers are renowned for their pale complexion, and visible effects from years of abusing their potions.
The mod does a great job of representing more lore-accurate witchers and makes changes across all monster hunters. It is a great mod for those who appreciate the original lore and want to have a more immersive experience with the game.

9High Quality Faces
Endorsements - 28,883
It isn’t difficult to see why this is the most downloaded character mod on the website. The newtextures look great, and do a fantastic job of making the entire experience with the game more smooth and immersive.
The mod affects all main and secondary NPCs and most of the commoners. Given just how much visual fidelity has been improved in the game, doing the same for characters makes perfect sense, and this is a fantastic addition to any mod collection.
