Summary
Baldur’s Gate 3’s next massive patch is now available, as Larian Studios finally delivers the Mac version of its popular RPG as well as the long-awaited Magic Mirror. While Mac support and the appearance-changing Magic Mirror are the major features of Patch 3, there are dozens upon dozens of fixes, improvements, and changes also included. Act 3 ofBaldur’s Gate 3, in particular, continues to be a focus of Larian’s post-launch attention.
It’s no secret that whileBaldur’s Gate 3spent years in early access, its full launch still had some bugs and performance issues. The sprawling RPG is simply so large that Larian couldn’t catch everything. PolishingBaldur’s Gate 3is a process that will continue well beyond launch, and Larian is well-versed in this kind of post-launch support. Major patches and hotfixes have been delivered frequently over the past several weeks, and more updates are planned forBaldur’s Gate 3in the months to come.

Patch 3 could beBaldur’s Gate 3’s largest yet. And while it’s perhaps thin on content, despite expectations, the number of fixes for variousBaldur’s Gate 3bugs included in thepatch notesis astonishing. The biggest addition content-wise is the Magic Mirror. The Magic Mirror is found in players' camp, tucked away in a corner. Players can use it tochange their customBaldur’s Gate 3characters' appearances, as well as their voice, pronouns, and “nether regions.” Unfortunately, race/subrace and body type cannot be changed.
Alongside the Magic Mirror, Patch 3 also bringsBaldur’s Gate 3to Mac devices. While some developers, likeBlizzard withDiablo 4, have stopped supporting Macs, Larian has decided to continue its support of Apple’s computer platform. Mac support was originally planned to launch the same day as on PC, but Larian delayed it due to other priorities. Mac players' patience has now been rewarded, however.
The hundreds of additional fixes, improvements, and changes included in Patch 3 beyond adding the Magic Mirror and Mac support are simply too numerous to list. Areas of focus include combat changes like Sneak Attack damage now increasing to 6d6 at level 11, dialogue improvements like the game believing the player isdating Gale instead of Karlach, gameplay fixes like making it so it’s not a crime to read some signs, and improving performance in an important Act 3 area.
The list of bugs inBaldur’s Gate 3is long, but today’s Patch 3 update should address many problems that have annoyed players since launch. That’s not to say there aren’t more bugs yet to squash, but this is an important step forward. And if there are still substantial bugs to squash, Larian isalready working onBaldur’s Gate 3’s next patch. It’ll arrive before players know it.
Baldur’s Gate 3is available now on PC and PS5.
