Baldur’s Gate 3is a game that has captivated fans ever since its release. This game has an absolutely massive world full of allies and enemies to discover.
While the player is in the Shadow Cursed Lands, they might discover an abnormally bloated undead creature, Thisobald Thorm. Here’s how to get rid of him.

Who is Thisobald Thorm?
Thisobald Thorm is a character the player might run into while exploring the Shadow Cursed Lands in Act 2. He is quite the repulsive-looking character whose belly looks like it is near the point of exploding.
To be specific, Thisobald Thorm is an undead elf. He’s also referred to as the Wretched Distiller. Upon meeting him, he will force the player to sit down at the bar with him to drink. Unless the player refuses his advances, he will be mostly docile.

Where to Find Thisobald Thorm?
To even reach Thisobald Thorm, the player mustfirst make their way into Act 2ofBaldur’s Gate 3. To do that, the player must enter the Shadow Cursed Lands. It’s also important to note that the player will need the Pixie’s powers to advance this far as otherwise, the curse’s power will be too strong for them to advance.
Thisobald Thorm can be found not too far from the House of Healing, where the player might’ve encountered another Thorm, Malus. Going south from the House of Healing, the player will find a location known as the Waning Moon. The player will have to enter the Waning Moon and, on the lower floor, Thisobald Thorm can be seen. Around him, there will be many undead characters. Worry not, as they will not be aggressive unless a fight with Thisobald Thorm is triggered.
How To Beat Thisobald Thorm
When it comes to fighting Thisobald Thorm in BG3, the player has 2 options to defeat him.
Beating Thisobald Thorm in a Fight
Thisobald Thorm is going to be a powerful enemy if the player decides to face him. To even start a fight with him, the player will have to trigger a conversation with him by getting closer.
When that’s done, the player just has to choose the option of attacking. When that’s done, a fight will ensue with Thisobald Thorm, as well as everyone else present in the Waning Moon.
One huge disadvantage the player will quickly realize they have once they start fighting Thisobald Thorm is that he is immune to piercing, bludgeoning, thunder, and slashing damage. This means a primarily melee build might not be able to do any damage to him, so the player should think about this before even fighting him.
To take him down, the player actually needs to attack him with one of these attack types: fire, ice, radiant, necrotic, or poison. When the player attacks him with these, he will eventually get the Blacked Out condition, which removes all his immunities and allows the player to properly attack him.
Beating Thisobald Thorm Without a Fight
If, instead of going head-first into a fight, the player would rather talk their way through this complicated situation, that would bethe best option against Thisobald Thorm.
To do that, the player must go near Thisobald Thorm, which will trigger the conversation with him automatically. Sit at the bar with him and you’ll soon notice that he looks like he’s about to burst. The plan here is to make Thisobald Thorm drink until he bursts and dies on his own, without any kind of fight.
Thisobald Thorm will want to get the player to drink and tell stories. When it’s time for the player to drink, the player has the option to either drink the brewer or mime drinking.
It’s better to bet on drinking and passing the Saving Throw, as the consequences of missing that will be becoming drunk, while failing the Sleight of Hand to mime drinking will cause Thisobald Thorm to get angry and engage in a fight with the player.
It’s pretty useful to have all inspiration points during this ordeal as it will give the player the possibility to reroll if they miss.
After the player drinks or mimes drinking, Thisobald Thorm will also drink. After that, he will ask the player to entertain him with a story or fable. The option here doesn’t matter much, however, some stories do require less effort to pass the Performance Check.
When the Performance Check is done, the player gets to ask Thisobald Thorm some questions, such as“Who Placed the Curse on this Land”.Either way, after this, the player has to repeat the previous steps. Miming or Drinking, then telling a story.
The player will again get to ask Thisobald Thorm more questions, before once again having to drink or mime drinking. However, this is the last time. Thisobald Thorm will divulge some informationregarding Ketheric Thorm’s relicbefore bursting open, causing him to die in the process.
After Defeating Thisobald Thorm
After finishing off Thisobald Thorm, the player will have gained more information concerning Ketheric Thorm’s Relic, which will be quite useful if the player can get their hands on it. Thisobald Thorm specifically reveals that “her cage” is located in the Thorm Mausoleum. This person was caged by Ketheric Thormand the player will be able to discover more as they explore the Thorm Mausoleum.
If the player missed any of the Saving Throws when drinking with Thisobald Thorm, then they will be drunk after this encounter. This status effect can last for a while, but should be cured by a long rest as it can have negative effects on the player.
What Loot Will Thisobald Thorm Have?
The biggest reward for defeating enemies is typically the Loot available on them. When it comes to Thisobald Thorm, here’s what he’s carrying:
• Worn Key
• Venomous Fang
Overall, Thisobald Thorm doesn’t carry anything that is too interesting. He mostly has different types of alcohol.
The Door Behind Thisobald Thorm
The Player will loot a Worn Key off of Thisobald Thorm. With that in hand, the player can go behind where Thisobald Thorm died and open the door. There, you will have a large room to look around in.
In that room, the player will be able to find a lot of interesting loot, some of which include:
• On Serpent Venom Toxin (unlocks the recipe for Serpent Fang Toxin)
• A lot of Gold
• Ichorus Gloves
• Research Notes (unlocks recipe for Thisobald’s Brewed Up Bellyglummer)
