With the launch ofthe new cinematic trailerforAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft has finally been able to answer some lingering questions about the latest Norse-based addition to the series. One of the most prominent topics of conversation about the newAssassin’s Creedis how the protagonist will follow in the footsteps ofAssassin’s CreedSyndicateandOdysseyby letting players choose the gender of the character they will control.
Now, with so much information coming forward aboutAssassin’s Creed Valhallaas the marketing strategies are fully in action, Ubisoft has announced who will be playing both the male and female versions of the protagonist Eivor. Previously,the male voice actor for Eivorwas announced as Danish actor Magnus Bruun.

In keeping with an authentic choice for the voice work inAssassin’sCreed Valhalla, the talent who will be supplying the voice for the female Eivor will be Danish actress Cecilie Stenspil. Stenspil is well known for her previous works inBadehotellet,The Protectors, andLong Story Short, along with a successful career in theater. With both Bruun and Stenspil supplying their voices to thedual gendered Eivor, either choice will certainly give whichever version players choose an authentic style similar to the characters fromAssassin’s Creed Odyssey.
However, looking at the previous games in theAssassin’s Creedseries that have offered the choice of gender for the playable character, there were some concerns. Notably withAssassin’s Creed Odyssey, which was likely an issue of direction, where the vocal performance of Alexios was criticized due to an assumption that players may have been intended to play as Kassandra. Thankfully, with the character of Eivor shifting between genders as opposed to being one of two twins,Valhallawill likely addressOdyssey’s shortcomings, specifically in the direction of the voice talent.
Sins of the past for theAssassin’s Creedseries aside, players are sure to be in for a treat with the authentic Danish voice talent being utilized inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. It will also be interesting to see how Stenspil and Bruun are able to handle thetraditional Viking rap battlesthat are expected to make an appearance in the new game. Between the talented cast and the Norse inspirations that fuel the latest game in Ubisoft’s flagship franchise,Valhallais certainly one to look out for among fans of the series.
