ThePokemonanime is saying goodbye to Ash Ketchum and Pikachu as the main characters of the series, but that doesn’t mean the character still doesn’t have some goals to accomplish. ThePokemon Journeysanime finally saw Ash become World Champion, recognizing him as one of the greatest Pokemon trainers in history.
Ash failed to win Pokemon League championships in many regions that he explored, so becoming World Champion was a significant moment for him to say the least. With Ash pulling off such an incredible feat, there isn’t much left for him to accomplish in thePokemonworld, which could be a big reason why the anime writers are wanting to move on and focus on new protagonists. However, there is still at least one thing left for Ash to do before he could be truly considered the very best like no one ever was.

The tagline for the originalPokemonanime series was “Gotta catch ‘em all,” and Ash is not even close to achieving that particular goal. As of the latest episodes of thePokemonanime series, Ash has not even caught 100 unique Pokemon, which is surprising considering how long he’s been on the show. Despite Ash being featured as the main hero in thePokemonanime series for over 25 years, he has not even gotten close to catching all 1,008 Pokemon that exist in the franchise as ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Starting in January, thePokemonanime series will air 11 more episodes focusing on Ash to wrap up his adventures, and then it will transition to the new protagonists, who live in thePaldea region. It’s highly unlikely that Ash will catch all the Pokemon he’s missing over the course of those 11 episodes, especially since they seem to be more focused on him revisiting old friends. Considering this, it seems safe to say that Ash will not catch ‘em all by the time he and Pikachu leave the anime series.
Even though Ash and Pikachu will no longer be the main characters in thePokemonanime series after the next 11 episodes are up, he may still make an appearance every now and then. In fact, there is a fan theory thatone of the newPokemonanime characters is Ash’s daughter, though that has yet to be confirmed by The Pokemon Company.Pokemonfans will have to tune in to the new episodes to know for sure, but regardless, it will be interesting to see if the anime is able to hold fans’ interest without Ash and Pikachu leading the charge.
