Apex Legendsis one of the biggest free to play games on the market, with a loyal fanbase willing to grind out the game’s battle pass to get new skins. However, one new skin that has been added toApexlooks a bit familiar to a certain armor set worn byDestiny’s Hunter class.
Posted by Twitter user Burnbxx, a new skin for Mirage is heavily compared to the Trials of Osiris armor set that is worn by many Hunters inDestiny. Whether earned legitimately or through asneaky Trials of Osiris trick, the Hunter armor is one of the prominent sets in the game, and is loved by many fans of Bungie’s game. With the first image in Burnbxx’s tweet showing the Mirage skin and the others showcasing detailed looks at the Trials armor, the resemblance is uncanny.

While the new skin is not the cause ofMirage players' decoys flying into the sky, its design is certainly a familiar one. The skin features a yellow and black color scheme with shades of white that perfectly matches the colors of theDestinyarmor, with the scarf-like cape, hood, and pants being color swapped from the original armor set. While the faceplates of the armor differ, as Mirage’s eyes glow a bright blue and the Trials armor clearly has gold eyes, the cat ears are another major similarity.
Both armor sets feature remarkably similar arms and gloves, with both the legs on the Mirage skin and the Osiris Hunter wearing knee pads as well. Pouch and belt-positioning are also similar, and both outfits share yellow patterns on their chest to round out the similar looks. WithApexset to get a lineup of Halloween skinssoon, perhaps more similar designs will be pointed out.
Ironically, someplayers feelDestinyis copying Master Chief’s armorinBeyond Light. That design, like this one, shared features between the two designs with only small variations between the two. With the Chief-like Titan armor at least offering a different color scheme and including shades ofDead Space’s Isaac Clarke, this Mirage skin seems a bit closer to the Osiris armor’s design. Still, it seems like turnabout is fair play in regard to similar outfit designs in gaming.
Whether Bungie returns the favor inDestiny 2remains to be seen, though it will likely be some time before any homage, if it does come, is seen.Destiny 2: Beyond Lightis just around the corner, and it will not be long before players areadjusting to the newestDestinyrevamp.
Apex Legendsis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version currently in development.
